Across-the-Desk's JournalAcross the Desk - S6E:12 (OK SQ820 & Democracy Killer Bill Shepard)
This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about the failed privatization of signature verification for Oklahoma state questions as SQ820 fails to meet the deadline to be put on the 2022 ballot despite those signatures being turned in almost 5 months in advance of any 2022 ballot deadline, only to be denied by the Oklahoma Supreme Court because the private company Western Petition Systems slow walked the count and/or was also very inefficient and showed poor leadership when it came to verifying the signatures in a reasonable amount of time. Thereby delaying the ability of SQ820, and direct democracy, to be on the ballot. And we paid $300K per year to make it happen 10x as long and cost nearly 3x as much... And who owns and runs Western Petition Systems? That would be Bill Shepard, who also is the owner and CEO of Sooner Poll and is also a guest blogger for OCPA, a conservative think tank.

Across the Desk - S6:E11 (Ryan Walters MIA, but the Cavalry is on the Way)
This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about how Sec. of Education Ryan Walters has been MIA over the past month, and in the middle of election season. But that's okay! Because he went back to regroup after getting kicked pretty hard when it came to the defaming letter he wrote about a Norman High School teacher. Now the Oklahoma Legislature has even stepped in as House Leader Charles McCall is making base claims about Joy and Jena, Democrats running on opposite tickets of Stitt and Walters. As well as 14 Legislatures who signed a letter asking for the State Board of Education to investigate for HB1775 violations and to immediately revoke said teacher from Norman's Teaching Certificate. Even after the Ryan Walters Fiasco of the same measure. And the fact that the Norman School Board and High School administration have said there was no violation of HB 1775. It's all about saving a campaign whose boat has taken on a lot of water from more than one self inflected wound....
