Democrat Rita Hart on Friday morning pulled ahead of Republican state Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowas 2nd Congressional District, according to updated unofficial results from the Iowa Secretary of States office.
On election night, only 282 votes separated the candidates, with Miller-Meeks leading Hart 196,769 votes to 196,487. By Friday morning, Hart had taken the lead, 196,603 to 196,441, an advantage of 162 votes. The Associated Press has not declared a winner in the Southeast Iowa district due to the razor-thin margin here.
The change in the results may not be due to new votes being counted (the district-wide total dropped by about 200 votes), but from an error in reporting on election night.
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate and Jasper County County Auditor Dennis Parrott announced this morning they will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. in Newton to discuss unofficial election results in one Jasper County precinct. Unofficial results show Miller-Meeks leading Hart in Jasper County 11,180 to 8,096.

I almost can't believe that a woman will soon be the Vice-President of the United States!
Never thought I would live to see the day.
Not just a woman, but a black woman.
This is indeed monumental.
Kind of overwhelming.
