An off-duty Aurora police officer has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman with disabilities following an argument Wednesday night.

Douglas Harroun, 32, was taken into custody and booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility on a charge of third-degree assault against an at-risk adult, a Class 5 felony, for reportedly punching a 49-year-old woman with disabilities several times in the head and face, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the area near E. Briarwood Circle at around 9:02 p.m. after first responders received a 911 call about a fight happening at an apartment complex.

The fringe ideology of "constitutional sheriffs" is attracting believers within Texas law enforcemen

https://www.texastribune.org/2023/01/13/constitutional-sheriffs-texas/

Some 50 Texas sheriffs and numerous elected officials have attended trainings on the unsupported notion that sheriffs can single-handedly overrule state and federal law. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, which offered state peace officers credit for the seminars, is now investigating.

Last summer, the sheriff of Coryell County in Central Texas took to an elevated platform in a small Las Vegas ballroom and made an unusual announcement: He was a “born-again sheriff,” he said, having “realized that I wasn’t doing my job 100%.”

Sheriff Scott Williams runs a 92-bed jail and provides security for the courthouse in Gatesville. He oversees around two dozen employees. The county is known for its six state prison facilities, and Williams has struggled to keep his overcrowded jail in compliance with state standards. He cannot keep his department adequately staffed because his deputies are “tired of working like Hebrew slaves for very little money,” Williams told a local news source.

In Vegas, he told the audience that he wanted to protect America from “globalists that are coming to destroy our nation,” saying “the moment we start acting like we are Americans, we are going to take our country back.”

Brittany King suffered pregnancy complications after police fired into her vehicle in 2020 during the George Floyd protests, a lawsuit claims

Shaiitarrio Brown and Brittany King were delivering meals for DoorDash in the early morning of May 30, 2020, as protests decrying the killing of George Floyd swept through Denver. As the couple stopped at an intersection, a police officer fired a plastic ball containing a pepper spray-like agent at their car.

Brown exited the vehicle and shouted at police to stop — “You shot a car with a pregnant woman in it!” he yelled to officers in bystander footage that later went viral on social media.

Officers responded by firing several more pepper balls at Brown and into the vehicle. King, Brown’s girlfriend, can be heard in the video screaming before the couple drives away as officers continue to pelt the car.

A Fort Worth police detective is on restricted duty after he was arrested by Benbrook officers, according to the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD).

In a news release, FWPD said Tanner Martin was arrested while off-duty Thursday after he was believed to be driving while intoxicated.

The department's Internal Affairs Unit is looking into the case. In the meantime, Martin has been stripped of his police power. Fort Worth police said he has been with the department for seven years and was with the Crime Against Children Unit when he was arrested.

"The Fort Worth Police Department will continue to hold employees accountable who do not meet the standards expected of a Fort Worth Police Officer and in doing so, will continue to be transparent and open with our community," FWPD said in the release.

Sheriff's deputy arrested for torturing, killing service dog

https://nypost.com/2022/04/29/michigan-sheriff-jacob-wilkinson-arrested-for-torturing-killing-service-dog/

A Michigan sheriff’s deputy tortured and killed his adopted service dog, then dumped it in a ditch all because the pooch “nipped” at him, authorities said.

Jacob Wilkinson was arrested Monday on a felony charge and sacked from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office after the decomposed body of his dog Habs was found bound and shot three times, officials said.

“There was a time somewhere between September, October-ish where he was trimming the dog’s nails and the dog nipped at him,” Sheriff Christopher Swanson said in a Facebook video Wednesday where he shared Wilkinson’s mugshot.
