NYPD officers caught having sex in car after residents hear screams

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nypd-officers-caught-having-sex-203755748.html

Two New York City police officers were reportedly caught having loud sex in a car parked outside a Brooklyn precinct after neighbors overheard a woman screaming.

The New York Post reported that the off-duty officers were found naked in the car after a concerned caller heard "hot and heavy" cries and called the police.

The tryst allegedly took place around 1:30 a.m. in a lot where officers park their personal cars outside the 79th Precinct in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, the Post reported.

A source told the outlet that report states the caller heard "a woman screaming in a parking lot" but couldn’t see "which color vehicle" it was.

Ex-Sioux Falls police officer sentenced to 10 years for enticing a minor

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ex-sioux-falls-police-officer-225233500.html

Luke John Schauer, a former Sioux Falls police officer, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for attempting to entice a minor while using the internet.

That sentence, handed down Thursday morning, is the state's mandatory minimum, according to the plea agreement he signed back in September. The maximum sentence carries to life imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.

Along with his time behind bars, Schauer, 29, will have five years of supervised release, a $100 special assessment and forfeiture of items stated by the court, according to the ruling.

In September, Schauer agreed to a plea deal to have his charges dismissed if he pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet.

City officials in Oakland early Thursday evening confirmed that Chief of Police LeRonne Armstrong has been placed on paid administrative leave after an investigation concluded he failed to properly handle serious misconduct by an officer.

Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and City Administrator Ed Reiskin issued the statement about Armstrong being placed on leave after 6 p.m.

"The decision was not taken lightly but we believe that it is critical for the safety of our community that we build trust and confidence between the Department and the public," the statement read. "We must have transparency and accountability to move forward as a safer and stronger Oakland."

The Oakland Police Department on Friday confirmed the decision to put Chief Armstrong on paid administrative leave was made jointly by the mayor and City Administrator Reiskin.

Officials said Assistant Chief Darren Allison will serve as Acting Chief effective immediately.

Darlington County sheriff’s captain faced firing from Hartsville PD over on-duty sexual misconduct but quit first

A Darlington County Sheriff’s Office captain quit his job with the Hartsville Police Department before he was set to be fired for sexual misconduct and other policy violations, according to documents newly obtained by News13 through various Freedom of Information Act requests.

Many questions arose surrounding Capt. Mark Campbell’s law enforcement career that News13 began investigating after he was initially named Darlington’s police chief in November.

Campbell is currently the Special Operations Commander for the sheriff’s office, and as of Thursday morning, is still employed by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

The City of Hartsville requested immediate termination of then-Sgt. Mark Campbell in November 2020 as a result of an Internal Affairs investigation related to Campbell’s interactions with a Hartsville Walmart employee in September 2020, according to the newly obtained documents.

Officer who hit woman in McDonald's dispute placed on leave

https://www.wsaz.com/2023/01/20/officer-who-hit-woman-mcdonalds-dispute-placed-leave/

An Ohio police officer has been put on administrative leave after video showed him punching a Black woman several times as she was taken into custody following a dispute at a McDonald’s over extra cheese on a Big Mac.

The incident, captured on video by a bystander, occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Monday at the restaurant in Butler Township, Ohio. It began after Laticka Hancock, 31, of Dayton, bought a Big Mac and returned to the restaurant a short time later because it did not have the extra cheese she paid for.

Hancock said a restaurant worker asked another employee to remake her burger, but that person later asked Hancock to pay more for the extra cheese. Hancock said she had already paid for it and asked for a refund, which she says she eventually received.

Hancock said she was then told police had been called and was asked to leave the restaurant. Two Butler officers — Sgt. Todd Stanley and Tim Zellers — responded there around 4:20 p.m. and approached Hancock, who spoke with them about what had occurred.

Accused crooked NYPD cop Joseph Franco just 'doing his job,' defense attorney says

https://nypost.com/2023/01/19/accused-crooked-nypd-cop-joseph-franco-just-doing-his-job-attorney/

A former undercover NYPD detective accused of framing innocent people by lying about seeing them deal drugs was just “doing his job,” his defense attorney claimed during opening statements at his Manhattan trial Thursday.

Joseph Franco — who was fired in May 2020 after a departmental trial — is facing perjury, official misconduct and other charges for allegedly falsely claiming he saw drug deals go down in three cases between 2017 and 2018.

“We live in a society today where it’s very easy to be critical of the police,” said Franco’s attorney, Howard Tanner, told jurors on Thursday.

“Joe’s on trial for doing his job,” Tanner said. “Second guessing, Monday morning quarterbacking an overzealous district attorney’s office that has it in for the police — I’ve got to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, it’s not right.”
