Trump Is Not Going To Run For Re-election

because he is too ill. He will also use the same excuse to avoid going to jail. In his own mind, he keeps his dignity because he would have had the greatest victory in history if he was not ill.

Senator Sherrod Brown entering the race. Pros and Cons?

He is from Ohio and would be strong in the rust belt.

WOW, Yes, Bravo, This is how we handle the impeachment

Look at the OP "Rep. Elaine Luria has the simple mantra we need in 2020" at https://www.democraticunderground.com/1017558780

The airwaves should be covered with a generic version of this ad 24/7. Every congressperson who served in the military should do their own version of it. A version should also be done for non-vets who also took the oath of office because this is what impeachment is all about. Let us for once get out front and establish the message. You can bet Trump will try to do it. Set up an Act-blue account to also fund this ad. As well as hitting up large donors for a 501(c)(4) educational organization which might be tax-exempt.

Just a little pick-me-up in these dark days of Trump

For the first time I am certain Donald Trump

is going down. May it be all the way to Hell. I really want to act with love and forgiveness towards him, but there are limits:

Donald Trump has a cruel streak. He seems to enjoy humiliating people including terminally ill John McCain. He does not pay people who work for him by declaring bankruptcy, but he walks away with his profit. People have sued him hundreds of times including for fraud, such as Trump University. His charitable foundation was closed because the only person it helped was Donald Trump. In the newspapers, He talked about the sexual superiority of his mistress over his first wife. He said his wife's breast implants didn’t feel right. Trump also withdraw the health insurance of an infant with cerebral palsy because he was mad at the father. I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

When I heard the audiotape of children crying out for their mothers and fathers at the detention centers at our southern border with Mexico; I felt ashamed. President Trump did this in all our names, in my name. I know they are not the same, but when I heard the children's cries, images of Nazi camps and the "Voyage of the Damned" (= MS St. Louis) flashed into my mind. For these parents, it must have felt like a modern-day holocaust. Imagine your babies ripped from your arms, and perhaps you will never see them again. They told you your babies would only be cleaned up and showered, but they never returned the babies to you. This is being done in our name. The horror, the horror!

These parents did nothing more than fleeing violence and oppression for safety and a better life; as did our forbearers. These parents heard stories of a great nation, America, where people are safe and free, and they wanted that for their children. They walked thousands of miles because they believed the words that make America great. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" They came looking for what every parent wants for their children, freedom, and opportunity. They searched for "The American Dream" but instead, they had their children ripped away and perhaps lost forever. (There are reports that some families can NEVER be reunited because of poor record-keeping and incompetence.)

I believe (at risk of losing credibility) Donald Trump is the Antichrist, who would love to become a dictator. He has purposely sown division, hate, and fear to a degree far beyond what anyone thought possible. Three (climate change, financial collapse, political instability) of the four horsemen are already bearing down on us. The sooner we send Donald Trump to his home in Hell, the better.

The Battle Continues

The year was 1932, we were in the third year of the "Great Depression". It was a time of no hope for the future. Desperation ruled as the stock market had crashed, and banks closed never to reopen their doors. In the time it takes the eye to blink, or the heart to beat, a lifetime of savings was wiped out. Businesses failed, jobs were lost, homes and farms were foreclosed. Dreams were swept away. For many years the unemployment rate would be over 25%.

The old and disabled literally died in the street from starvation, too weak to wait for hours on breadlines at soup kitchens for a meal. World War One veterans, who had lost their homes, set up an encampment in Washington. They were calling for the bonus they had been promised after the war. But instead of being honored, they were brutally attacked and expelled by other soldiers. Hundreds of thousands of homeless men, women, and children traveled from town to town, in open boxcars on the rails, and falling apart jalopies looking for work. Any job, at any wage, just to put a scrap of bread on the table and end the relentless hunger that consumed them. Fear and hopelessness lurked throughout the land.

The radio was filled with talk of revolution. The Nazis were held in high esteem. Many respected businessmen said they were the model for government efficiency and solving our problems. Politicians were talking endlessly about the need for fiscal responsibility. They said the solution to our economic crisis was to cut the budget. People wondered if the “American Dream” was dead, never to return. It was a time of desperation as the light which is hope was extinguished and a darkness covered the land.

<iframe width="488" height="360" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And in the middle of this time of crisis, this great test of democracy, three years after the "Crash of 29", there was an election. This was a time to renew the dream with a vote. Perhaps the last chance for that dream that is America.

His campaign theme song was “Happy Days Are Here Again”. On his first day in office, after he had just been sworn in, he said: "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself". This was a man who could not walk without help from others, yet he chose to carry a whole nation on his back, to a new day of hope. Perhaps the secret of his greatness was he knew what it was like to depend on others, and how interconnected we all are. His name was Franklin D. Roosevelt, but in the hearts of his fellow Americans he was just FDR, and to many, the savior of the “American Dream.

Some of the wealthy elite called him a Communist. Others said he was a Socialist. He called himself a Democrat, but he really was a Pragmatist. His ideology and program was to try something, if it does not work, try something else. He greatly increased the role of government in the economy. He had programs to provide jobs, and create a social safety net. His public works program built roads, schools, bridges, Dams, and docks. He pushed for and got laws that would regulate the financial industry and banks. Laws were passed that helped workers to form Unions, thus ending the downward spiral of wages.

The economy did not zoom ahead, but people had more money in their pockets. They had a greater sense of security and renewed hope about the future. Slowly but surely, the American Dream was once again revived. But this job is not yet finished. The battle against the forces of darkness and inequality goes on. This is our fight now. We come from a proud tradition, never forget this. It is up to us to keep hope alive and finish the job.

Bernie's Greatest Error

When asked, Bernie will always self-identify as a Democratic Socialist. Bernie should call himself a “Social Security Democrat” since he is not really a Socialist. He does not advocate that the workers will own the means of production. A lot of voters still associate the word Socialist with Soviet-style communism. Bernie is not a Soviet-style communist; he’s an FDR-style Social Democrat. He wants to upend existing power structures and change them so they benefit the many over the few. His goal is to make America more like Scandinavia. Yet, Bernie keeps shooting himself in the foot by stressing he is a Democratic Socialist.

Words are labels which are shortcuts to thoughts and emotions. It is based on these labels that many Americans think and react to. Trump knows this and is a master in labeling people. So Bernie would be a weak candidate because of the Socialist label. Many voters, especially older ones, will be scared away from him. Socialism as a concept may be popular with a lot of young Americans. They have grown up seeing the failure and inequality of modern American capitalism. But they do not know of the repression associated with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). But their parents do. Advocating for Socialism is a very risky way to try to win a general election.

Will the formal impeachment hearings

be broadcast over the air, or only on cable? If the plan is only cable at this point, we must push for it to be broadcast over the air. Many people do not have cable TV. This is history being made and every American should be a part of it.
