The 2 prosecutors leading the Manhattan DA's investigation into Trump abruptly resigned: report

https://www.businessinsider.com/prosecutors-leading-manhattan-da-trump-probe-resigned-nyt-2022-2

"The resignations from the two prosecutors, Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz, reportedly came after the new district attorney, Alvin Bragg, expressed doubts about moving forward with a case against former President Donald Trump.

Pomerantz confirmed his resignation to The Times, and Dunne declined to comment on the matter. The paper reported that the investigation into Trump has stalled amid Bragg's hesitation to pursue charges against Trump, and that neither Pomerantz nor Dunne had questioned any witnesses before a grand jury in more than a month."

An Excellent discussion of Biden's Ukraine actions

https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/february-22-2022?utm_source=url

"...President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. has imposed sanctions on two Russian banks... and five individuals... It also sanctioned Russia’s debt, cutting off its access to western financing.

But not all Americans are on board...There used to be a saying that politics stopped at the water’s edge, meaning that lawmakers presented a unified front to other countries, no matter their partisan differences. So far, Republicans appear to have thrown that idea overboard, trying to use the crisis to attack President Joe Biden

Others allied with Trump are supporting Putin by suggesting that the U.S. has no business protecting its ally Ukraine from Russian aggression. This is pushing them into what sure looks like a stand against America."

Looks like the GOP are full on autocrats - Listen to Mike Pompeo praise Putin.

Kennedy was the 'Lion of the Senate'. Whitehouse may be the 'Tiger of the Senate'.

‘The Scheme’: a senator’s plan to highlight rightwing influence on the supreme court

For almost nine years the Democrat took to the Senate floor every week the chamber was in session to demand that attention be paid to the climate crisis.

But now he has another alarm to sound. “The Scheme” is a series about the plot by rightwing donor interests to capture the supreme court and achieve through the institution’s power what they cannot through other branches of government.

The thread running through Whitehouse’s spoken essays is that the current 6-3 conservative majority on the court is no accident but the product of special interests and dark money – hundreds of millions of dollars in anonymous hidden spending.

NYT drops the hammer on Ginni Thomas with scathing report on her political activism

From NYT and reported in Alternet: https://www.alternet.org/2022/02/ginni-thomas/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=9885

“...For the three decades he has sat on the Supreme Court, they have worked in tandem from the bench and the political trenches to take aim at targets like Roe v. Wade and affirmative action. Together they believe that ‘America is in a vicious battle for its founding principles,’...Her views, once seen as on the fringe, have come to dominate the Republican Party. And with Trump’s three appointments reshaping the Supreme Court, her husband finds himself at the center of a new conservative majority poised to shake the foundations of settled law....the Thomases have found their moment.”

Ukraine: An interesting perspective from Heather Cox Richardson

But, first words from President Zelensky: "Today, Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky said, “we will give up nothing to no one” and that the borders of Ukraine “will stay that way, despite any statements or actions taken by the Russian Federation.”

"It seems worth noting the similarities between the work Manafort did for Yanukovych’s (former president of Ukraine) campaign and his work for Donald Trump in 2016, right up to calls to imprison Yanukovych’s pro-NATO main opponent, former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who was imprisoned from 2011 until 2014...And, once in office, Trump did, in fact, let Putin act much as he wished, especially with regard to Ukraine."

Pray for the people of Ukraine and their brave President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/live-updates/russia-ukraine/?id=82467772

'Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that he considers the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize two separatist regions as independent to be a violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

He added that Ukraine was committed to diplomacy but noted that they are ready to defend the country.

There’s no need to panic, Zelenskyy said, adding that it’s it’s not 2014, it’s 2022. “We’re ready,” he said.'

Ali Velshi filling in for Ari Melber. Really like him.

I wish MSNBC would give him his own show. Edit: I should have said prime time show.
