More than 130 Secret Service Agents Infected with Coronavirus

Back in May, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that the "one thing this virus has that's really different from so many other viruses . . . it has phenomenal capability and efficiency in spreading from person to person. This is a virus that spreads as easily as any virus that I've ever known, apart from maybe measles."

More than 130 Secret Service officers who help protect the White House and the president when he travels have recently been ordered to isolate or quarantine because they tested positive for the coronavirus or had close contact with infected co-workers, according to three people familiar with agency staffing.

The spread of the coronavirus — which has sidelined roughly 10 percent of the agency’s core security team — is believed to be partly linked to a series of campaign rallies that President Trump held in the weeks before the Nov. 3 election, according to the people, who, like others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the situation.

The outbreak comes as coronavirus cases have been rapidly rising across the nation, with more than 152,000 new cases reported Thursday.

The virus is having a dramatic impact on the Secret Service’s presidential security unit at the same time that growing numbers of prominent Trump campaign allies and White House officials have fallen ill in the wake of campaign events, where many attendees did not wear masks.

'The Trump Stink': White House officials panicked no one will hire them if the president crashes

At one time, veterans of White House administrations were sought after for prestigious positions at universities, think tanks, etc. That has not been the case for many folks who left the Trump administration either by their own will, or who were forcibly removed by Federal agents. One person who lucked out was Trump's former chief of staff, Reince Priebus. He joined the Navy.

COVID-19 cases in US grow at a speed not seen since June, the start of the summer peak

Source: USA Today

Nineteen days from the presidential election, the U.S. has more confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths than any other country, and cases are growing at a speed not seen since the start of the summer peak.

At the current rate of growth, the nation could set a record for new cases in a single week within the first few days of November, according to a USA TODAY analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. If the spread of cases picks up momentum – as was seen in late June and July – the U.S. could set a record in little more than a week.

"I don't think it's out of the question. Yesterday, we had about 50,000 new cases," said Caitlin Rivers, an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins. "It's not crazy to think that we would get there sooner than we would all like."

The U.S. added more than 366,400 cases in the past week – a number nearly 50,000 higher than the tally the previous week, which is a speed of growth not seen since late June.

When I read this article, I felt a surge of fear. The fear from the knowledge that we are losing control.

Barack and Michelle Obama: The Most Admired Man and Woman in the World

I hesitated at posting this because of my own reaction to it. I burst into tears because, without a doubt, Barack Obama would have done everything in his power to keep the pandemic under control. I cannot cry enough for 200,000 American lives gone.

This analysis focuses on public opinion of the United States in 13 countries in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Views of the U.S. and its president are examined in the context of long-term trend data. The report also examines how people in other countries perceive America’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak and how those perceptions compare to ratings for their own country, the World Health Organization, the European Union and China.

Ivana Trump causes outrage after blaming immigrants for raping American women

This grotesque family: stuff of nightmares.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/ivana-trump-immigrants-rape-women-us-loose-women-b439259.html

Donald Trump’s ex-wife has caused outrage after suggesting that US immigrants" don’t get jobs" and “steal and rape women” during an interview on Loose Women. The 71-year-old, who was married to Donald Trump for 15 years, appeared as a guest on the ITV show where she praised her ex-husband’s immigration policies.

“He's achieved so much, especially with immigration,” Ms Trump, who grew up in Czechoslovakia before moving to Canada, said. “I am immigrant, but they have to come to the country legally, they have to get a job, they have to pay taxes like the rest of Americans," she added

The president’s ex-wife went on to lash out at immigrants who “don't dress American” and concluded the controversial rant by saying they “rape women”. “And they don't get a job and they steal and they rape the women. That's not our idea,” she said.

Many social media users were quick to criticse the former model, calling the interview a “car crash”.

DeJoy Pressured Workers to Donate to G.O.P. Candidates, Former Employees say

Source: The New York Times

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a major donor to President Trump and fund-raiser for the Republican Party, cultivated an environment at his former company that left employees feeling pressured to make donations to Republican candidates, and rewarded them with bonuses for doing so, according to former employees.

The arrangement was described by three former employees at New Breed Logistics, Mr. DeJoy’s former company, who said that workers would receive bonuses if they donated to candidates he supported, and that it was expected that managers would participate. A fourth employee confirmed that managers at the company were routinely solicited to make donations. The four former employees spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of professional retaliation.

The former employees did not say how explicit Mr. DeJoy was about linking the campaign contributions he was encouraging to the extra compensation, but three of them said it was widely believed that the bonuses were meant to reimburse the political donations, an allegation first reported by The Washington Post. Federal campaign finance law bars straw-donor schemes, in which an individual reimburses someone else to donate to a political campaign in order to skirt contribution limits. But it is legal to encourage employees to make donations, as Mr. DeJoy routinely did.

A review of campaign finance records shows that over a dozen management-level employees at New Breed would routinely donate to the same candidate on the same day, often writing checks for an identical amount of money. One day in October 2014, for example, 20 midlevel and senior officials at the company donated a total of $37,600 to the campaign of Senator Thom Tillis, Republican of North Carolina, who was running to unseat a Democratic incumbent. Each official wrote a check for either $2,600, the maximum allowable donation, or $1,000.

Trump Went to Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood; Fred's Widow Is None Too Happy

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-is-in-mr-rogers-neighborhood-and-freds-widow-is-none-too-happy?via=twitter_page

“Fred tried to stay pretty quiet about politics, basically because his program was for children,” Joanne Rogers said.

She is under no such constraints herself.

“I’m alone now,” she said. “I don’t do a program for children.”

She made clear her feelings about Trump: “I think he’s just a horrible person.”

She did not hesitate to say how she will react if Trump is re-elected.

“I will probably go into mourning,” she said. “I can't even imagine. I would feel so badly.”

She was asked why she feels as she does about our current president.

“I think maybe the fact that Mr Trump seldom tells the truth,” she said. “If he does, it’s just a fluke, I think. But the fact [is] that I can’t believe anything he says, not even the simplest thing.”

She was speaking what she feels is the simple truth when she said, “This man is pathologically ill. Mentally ill.”
