To those who argued it was wrong to suggest RBG should have retired under Obama...

How do you feel today? She remained an incredible jurist for her entire tenure. The argument for her to retire had nothing to do with sexism or ageism and everything to do with political pragmatism.

The people who refused to vote for HRC must shoulder some of the blame. But so must those who dismissed political pragmatism.

We are likely going to spend the next two decades watching RBGs accomplishments be undermined and overturned.

Donald Trump is not the problem and removing him from office will not fix the problem.

62,984,828 of your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members voted for this narcissistic buffoon. Over the last 4 years he has proven to be just as incompetent, vile, hateful and ignorant as we all knew he would be - but his support remains steadfast amongst these people.

Our government will be better off under Joe Biden but our country, at its core, will be just as rotten as it is right now. All the Trump supporters will still be here, seething in their deplorable ignorance. These people are the real problem and Donald Trump is the symptom.

Dealing with these people is the solution. Our country will be in a world of shit until we figure out how to do that.

The damage that Republicans are doing to the country may already be irreparable. If we must wait another two decades for the demographics to shift - for old, ignorant white voters to die off so that educated, progressive minority voters become the majority, it will likely be far too late to take meaningful action on climate change. The longer we delay taking action to fix issues like income inequality, the harsher that action we will have to be.

This isn’t mean to be alarmist but let’s be honest: damn near half the voters in our country support Donald Trump. If that isn’t alarming, what is?

Be prepared for hell come November. Things are going to get ugly.

Man Dies in Car Crash After Defacing Black Lives Matter Mural With Mud, Oil and Graffiti

https://www.newsweek.com/man-dies-car-crash-after-defacing-black-lives-matter-mural-mud-oil-graffiti-1523729

A man suspected of defacing a Black Lives Matter mural in Vermont with mud, oil and graffiti died in a car accident, police announced Thursday.

The suspect, identified as Fred Seavey by the Montpelier Police Department, died in a car accident July 1 after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a highway median, according to an accident report by WCAX.

Police had identified Seavey, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, as a transient with no listed home address, WCAX reported. Using DNA from the crash scene, police were able to positively match those samples to ones collected from spray paint cans found near the mural.

Police used the DNA evidence, witness statements and video surveillance to posthumously link Seavey, 56, to its investigation into the mural's vandalism, according to a news release.

Does AOC not meet the requirements to serve on the house judiciary committee?

Earlier today someone on this forum (whom I will not name out of respect for their privacy) made the claim that AOC does not meet the “strict qualifications and requirements” to serve on the house judiciary committee. I understand that most of the members are attorneys but some are not.

Can any poster with knowledge of these “strict requirements and qualifications” please link them to me? I’m trying to better educate myself.

I did ask the person who originally made the statement but they declined to provide further information.

Keep your eye open for 'Democrats' here supporting Michelle Caruso-Cabrera

Shockingly there are many 'Democrats' here who are throwing their support behind Michelle Caruso-Cabrera. MCC has recently switched from being a registered Republican to a registered Democrat. That would normally not be an issue but when we examine MCC's record it becomes apparent that this is not merely a case of someone seeing the light and wanting to be on the right side of history.

Upon examining her record, we find that not only was MCC a registered Republican, she was an extremely right wing, ultra-conservative Republican who recently (2010) wrote a book calling for the abolishment of Medicare and Social Security.

Digging into MCC's record further, we find that MCC actually lived in a Donald Trump property until 2019. Not only that, but the forward of her book was written by none other than Larry Kudlow, Donald Trump's Director of the United States National Economic Council. You can look into some of the interviews she gave while peddling her book for yourself. She made many statements that would make even the most radical tea party members look reasonable. MCC is NOT a Democrat.

Let's be clear: MCC has switched parties specifically and with the sole purpose of attempting to sabotage Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. AOC threatens Republicans so much that they are doing everything they can to attempt to sabotage her. AOC is hated so thoroughly by certain so-called Democrats for her outspoken criticism of centrist policies and corporate welfare that these so-called Democrats are ignoring the wolf-in-sheep's clothing just to try to stick a knife in AOC's back.

BE WARNED.

If you see any of these people trying to weasel support for MCC here, confront them immediately so that other posters may see what is occurring. They will not respond with anything of substance when challenged. Mark their names down.

The teenagers were not responsible for the low turnout

They were responsible for the large number of free tickets claimed.

1. There were unlimited free tickets.
2. In the heart of Trump country only 6,200 people showed up.

This tells us that while Trump supporters on Facebook claim not to care about COVID, in reality they recognize the stupidity of a rally in the middle of a pandemic.

Georgia police are circling the wagons: Training Director says shooting "justified"

These guys are going to do everything they can to get these officers acquitted. Things are going to get BAD in Atlanta.

We cannot let these killers get off.

https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/georgia-police-training-director-believes-brooks-shooting-was-tragic-yet-justified

FORSYTH, Ga. - The man who runs the training academy for nearly all Georgia law enforcement officers says the shooting of Rayshard Brooks was tragic, yet justified.

...

DECISION 3: Officer Rolfe shoots Brooks even though he knew the weapon fired back was a non-deadly taser.

Wigginton points to case law and statutes in Georgia that allows an officer to use deadly force “to prevent death or great bodily injury to himself or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.”

He said the taser is an “incapacitating weapon” that could have left Rolfe vulnerable to “great bodily injury” if he fell and hit his head on the ground or the curb.

But couldn’t the same thing happen if someone threw a baseball, a water balloon or any object at an officer who was giving chase?

“It does give the police some leeway in the decision-making,” he replied.

Still, Wigginton believed Rolfe followed proper training when he fired his weapon.

“It was a justified shooting,” he said.

Wigginton said if you don’t like the training, the first step is to change the law.

So many people are upset about property damage...

Never in American History has property damage resulted in meaningful political change.

Or has it?

The Boston Tea Party was a political and mercantile protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1773.[1] The target was the Tea Act of May 10, 1773, which allowed the British East India Company to sell tea from China in American colonies without paying taxes apart from those imposed by the Townshend Acts. American Patriots strongly opposed the taxes in the Townshend Act as a violation of their rights. Demonstrators, some disguised as Native Americans, destroyed an entire shipment of tea sent by the East India Company.

They boarded the ships and threw the chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The British government responded harshly and the episode escalated into the American Revolution. The Tea Party became an iconic event of American history, and since then other political protests such as the Tea Party movement have referred to themselves as historical successors to the Boston protest of 1773.

The Tea Party was the culmination of a resistance movement throughout British America against the Tea Act, which had been passed by the British Parliament in 1773. Colonists objected to the Tea Act because they believed that it violated their rights as Englishmen to "no taxation without representation", that is, to be taxed only by their own elected representatives and not by a British parliament in which they were not represented. In addition, the well-connected East India Company had been granted competitive advantages over colonial tea importers, who resented the move and feared additional infringement on their business. Protesters had successfully prevented the unloading of tea in three other colonies, but in Boston, embattled Royal Governor Thomas Hutchinson refused to allow the tea to be returned to Britain.[2]

The Boston Tea Party was a significant event in the growth of the American Revolution. Parliament responded in 1774 with the Intolerable Acts, or Coercive Acts, which, among other provisions, ended local self-government in Massachusetts and closed Boston's commerce. Colonists up and down the Thirteen Colonies in turn responded to the Intolerable Acts with additional acts of protest, and by convening the First Continental Congress, which petitioned the British monarch for repeal of the acts and coordinated colonial resistance to them. The crisis escalated, and the American Revolutionary War began near Boston in 1775.
