Trump's company removes his name from Central Park ice rinks ahead of skating season

Does Donald Trumpís company think the Trump name is bad for business?

The presidentís eponymous business has scrubbed his name from a couple of ice rinks in Central Park that he has owned since the 1980s, according to city officials.

Meghan Lalor, a spokeswoman for the Department of Parks and Recreation, told the Daily News on Tuesday that the Trump Organization notified the city in late August that it planned to remove the presidentís last name from the rinks it operates in Central Park, one on the southern end officially called the Wollman Rink and one on the northern end called the Lasker Rink.

The Trump Organization did not ďprovide rationaleĒ for the change, which had not been requested by the city, Lalor said.

A spokeswoman for the Trump Organization did not return a request for comment.

Northern Ireland Set to Legalize Abortion and Same-Sex Marriage

Northern Ireland Set to Legalize Abortion and Same-Sex Marriage
The collapse of local government allowed Parliament to step in and bring the territoryís laws in line with Britainís principles of human rights.

BELFAST, Northern Ireland ó Traditionally conservative Northern Ireland is about to legalize both abortion and same-sex marriage, a head-snapping about-face that was imposed on the territory by the British Parliament.

The changes, bitterly resisted by anti-abortion and church groups, were mandated in an amendment to a routine bill on governance of Northern Ireland that Parliament passed in July amid a power vacuum created by the collapse of the regionís governing assembly nearly three years ago.

The amendment will go into effect at midnight on Monday, weeks after the High Court in Belfast rebuffed a legal challenge, ruling that Northern Irelandís 158-year-old abortion laws are incompatible with the United Kingdomís human rights commitments.

The judgment was a major victory for womenís rights activists, who had felt left behind after the Republic of Ireland voted to legalize abortion last year. Although Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom, and the majority of its people say they would like abortion to be made available, the regional power-sharing government had blocked abortion reform before collapsing in 2017 over sectarian divides.

How Low Will Trump Go? The president is unabashed, unapologetic and out of control.

The wonder of the Trump administration ó the jaw-dropping, brain-exploding phantasmagoria of it ó is that it doesnít bury its rottenness under layers of counterfeit virtue or use a honeyed voice to mask the vinegar inside. The rottenness is out in the open. The sourness is right there on the surface for all to see.

Itís at the presidentís rallies, where he plays a bigot for laughs, a bully for applause.

Itís in the ballrooms and beds at Mar-a-Loco, where he mingles official government business with free marketing for his gilded club.

Itís in the transcript of his phone call with the president of Ukraine, for whom the quid, the pro and the Biden-ravaging quo couldnít have been clearer.

Itís at the microphone in the White House briefing room, where his acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, showed up on Thursday, announced that President Trump would host the next G7 meeting at one of his own golf resorts, and conceded that, yes, aid to Ukraine had been tied to that countryís indulgence of the presidentís political obsessions.

ďGet over it,Ē Mulvaney told the assembled journalists.

ďElections have consequences,Ē he also said.

Allow me to translate: American voters gave Trump the presidency, so itís his to use and abuse as he wants.
