It feels more difficult to imagine humans surviving

I mean—my pessimistic side says we’ll be lucky to make it another 50 to 100 years, but even being realistic—200 years sounds like a tall order.

There is a reason billionaire libertarians are investing in armed fortresses built underground and people like Elon Musk are fast tracking colonizing Mars.

When you think about the already ticking time bomb of global warming and the increasingly violent swings in weather and subsequent disasters and conflict, it is hard to have much hope.

I still remember with great clarity when Hans Blix was blasting Bush Junta’s rush to war in Iraq. He pointed out in stark terms that he and other leaders in international organizations believed in 2002 that global warming/climate change was the greatest existential threat to humans.

Add to this the reality that despite our hopes for a connected human race, the Internet has actually exacerbated global income equality and the Gini index is off the charts. Ecommerce—especially electronic trading and B2B and B2C commerce has dramatically amplified the redistribution of wealth.

In the face of all of this, most Democratic governments are pushing toward more authoritarian and anti-immigration voices.

On top of all of that, the developments of
machine learning, artificial intelligence applications and internet of things—we could be soon dealing with algorithms becoming unmoored from human control and inflicting untold damage.

Like I said—the converging forces seem far too daunting for our human minds and wherwithal to imagine a human race alive and well 200 years from now.

GET THAT MOTHERFUCKER OUT OF OFFICE!!!!!! I am so pissed right now

He was already fucking up Middle East peace, fucking over poorer Americans, and attacking minorities here in the US as well as hurting refugees and potential immigrants from Muslim countries.

Now, in a fit of pique over his OWN GODDAMN corruption and collusion and the mess its caused, he is destroying the US economy as well as sending us into a stupid trade war with EU countries.

Somebody go in there and FIRE that motherfucker today.

Vista Outdoor's stock has plummetted since Feb 16. Thanks to boycott

So happy to see these people paying price for their active relationship with NRA and direct contribution to the problem as ammunition manufacturers.

REI and other large outdoor/sports retailers have put orders with Vista on hold.

Best view of stock price is 3 month window. It had been rising on talks of leaning out and focusing business in months prior to February. Now this erases all of their gains and could well send it further down as impacts of cancelled orders takes effect.

Just FYI to the more pro-gun folks. Homicides went up in US in 2015, 2016 and 2017

After a long decline, homicides are going up. The chief contributor to the increase is murder using firearms. Data is preliminary for 2017 so I don't have the specific numbers to list here. Take note below:
Weapons..............................2010...........2011...........2012..........2013...........2014...........2015...........2016

Total homicides...................13,164........12,795........12,888........12,253........11,961........13,455........15,070

Total firearms.......................8,874..........8,653..........8,897.........8,454..........8,124..........9,616........11,004

Knives or cutting instruments..1,732.........1,716..........1,604..........1,490.........1,567..........1,544..........1,604

Homicides with firearms went from about 67% of all homicides to 73% of all homicides from 2010 to 216.
I only list the #2 weapon used in homicides which are knives/stabbing and they went from 13% of all homicides to 10% in the same period.

One can extrapolate that all other methods used in homicides pale in comparison.

For those who participated in the Antiwar protests in the 60's--what advice for March For Our Lives?

I have been writing letters to my Senators and congressman. I have donated to the marches. I'll be attending my local march. But I so fear we will lose the advantage on this one soon. How to we help cause this to be a growing cloud of resistance and protest against the gun lobby and FORCE people to act or FORCE them out of congress?

I truly believe the earliest this happens is in January when GOP might be swept out of power in both houses. That means a lot of work until then and maintaining strength and momentum.

Thoughts? I just cannot stand to see another complete lack of action as happened after the most horrific shooting I've ever had to process--Sandy Hook.

My preferred scenario on Hope Hicks

She goes in to testify to Congress—immediately fucks up by admitting that in her role as communications director she regularly lied for Trump.

The committee then informs her they will refer this to Mueller to avoid looking like they are protecting her from ramifications. Further conversation leads her and her lawyers to believe the best option is to now separate herself from this sinking ship of iniquity.

She steels herself upon meeting with Trump, laughs at him as she tells him to go fuck himself as she is resigning. She will now proffer testimony to Mueller to save herself.

A guy can dream anyway.

I am so envisioning that little shit, Kushner, in White House copy room

Just copying the shit out of the trove of classified and top secret documents he was obtaining. Some say he was willing to trade this info for loans. I say there’s a reason
He was asking for a secret direct line between White House and Kremlin outside of national security apparatus.

So much that didn’t make sense does make sense now and I am absolutely livid.

Because Trump was making him point man on such a wide variety of issues, he would have been within his rights to request top secret files on all manner of topics both foreign and domestic.

Then he followed through on that opening. Jared the Kush requested more classified docs than any WH employee oh side of the national security team.

I hope someone in national security was seeding purposefully false info in some of those docs. If one of Kushner’s contacts is suddenly spouting that false info, then they’ve nailed him.

About that church AR15 ceremony in rural Pennsylvania,

Here’s what Obama said about rural Pennsylvanians in 2008:

“It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
