Our integrity is severely tarnished: Christianity Today editor says no one will believe a word...

we say’ after Alabama

“No matter the outcome of today’s special election in Alabama for a coveted US Senate seat, there is already one loser: Christian faith. When it comes to either matters of life and death or personal commitments of the human heart, no one will believe a word we say, perhaps for a generation,” the editorial explained. “Christianity’s integrity is severely tarnished.”

Democrat Doug Jones defeated Roy Moore in the special election.

The editorial noted the Alabama special election, “put an exclamation point on a problem that has been festering for a year and a half—ever since a core of strident conservative Christians began to cheer for Donald Trump without qualification and a chorus of other believers decried that support as immoral.”

“The Christian leaders who have excused, ignored, or justified his unscrupulous behavior and his indecent rhetoric have only given credence to their critics who accuse them of hypocrisy,” the editorial continued.

Roy Moores stunning defeat reveals the red line for Trump-style politics

There’s no sugar coating the stunning defeat for Donald Trump and his cronies in Tuesday’s senate contest.

There’s no accusation of fake news that can cover the tracks of the disastrous results for the president – and for his supposedly populist politics – little more than one year after his own election.

There’s no comeback for his former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, who declared war on the Republican establishment by stumping for a toxic candidate like Roy Moore.

This wasn’t a marginal contest in some familiar swing state, a typical bellwether of political trends. We’re talking about Alabama. One of the most Republican states in the union where there’s a long and violent history of rejecting outside influences, and anything that smacks of progressive politics.

If Trumpism has any future, any constituency moving forward, it should be thriving in Alabama. For months we have all endured the endless reporting from Trump Country where the president’s loyalists say their love of the blowhard-in-chief is undiminished.

Instead, Alabama – the state whose love of segregation gave us some of the greatest flashpoints in the civil rights movement – has drawn the reddest of red lines. There are still limits to what voters consider acceptable behavior, and Roy Moore is on the wrong side of them.

Someone Is Trying to Fool Reporters With a Fake Document Alleging Chuck Schumer's Sexual Misconduct

The 13-page PDF, which rather conspicuously titled “Schumer_Complaint,” alleges that Schumer harassed a former staffer from 2009 to 2011. It was apparently designed to resemble a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for DC.

Perhaps most glaringly, the document doesn’t name a lawyer for the staffer who allegedly filed the suit. Seems like a red flag to me! When she was approached with the document, the former staffer vehemently denied its claims and indicated she would also contact Capitol Police.

“The claims in this document are completely false, my signature is forged, and even basic facts about me are wrong,” she told Axios in a statement on Tuesday. “I have contacted law enforcement to determine who is responsible. I parted with Senator Schumer’s office on good terms and have nothing but the fondest memories of my time there.”

Buffer zones are needed around abortion clinics to prevent harassment by pro-life protesters say MPs

MPs are calling for buffer zones to be introduced around abortion clinics after hearing of intimidation of staff and women by pro-life protesters.

A parliamentary committee heard how protesters followed staff to their cars and called them "murderers". Also, women having abortions have been told that they will "die of cancer".

Home Secretary Amber Rudd ordered an assessment of protests outside abortion clinics over concerns about such tactics. The incidents of harassment and intimidation are being reported nationwide, MPs were told.

"Looking at legislation to introduce buffer zones or exclusion zones for protesting around clinics of this nature is something we have to look at," Will Quince MP, a member of the Home Affairs select committee told The Telegraph.

'Unfit to Clean Toilets in Obama's Presidential Library': USA Today Editorial Board Goes After Trump

The USA Today Editorial Board has just published a scathing rebuke of President Donald Trump, prompted by his misogynistic, sexist, and sexually harassing tweet attacking Democratic U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

"A president who'd all but call a senator a whore is unfit to clean toilets in Obama's presidential library or to shine George W. Bush's shoes," it begins.

Despite White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' lie that Trump's tweet was neither sexist nor unusual, USA Today writes:

"With his latest tweet, clearly implying that a United States senator would trade sexual favors for campaign cash, President Trump has shown he is not fit for office. Rock bottom is no impediment for a president who can always find room for a new low."

Obama and Bush, the paper's editorial board continues, "broke promises and told untruths, but the basic decency of each man was never in doubt." They then turn to Trump, calling him "uniquely awful" and describing his behavior as "sickening" and "corrosive."

Heh

Utter failure Roy Moore insisting he'll demand a recount even though he got his ass totally kicked

Down in Alabama, 100 percent of precincts have counted their votes. The tally:

Doug Jones (D): 49.9

Roy Moore (R): 48.4

Write-in: 1.7
In other words, Roy Moore lost by 1.5 percent. For a Republican running statewide in Alabama, that’s an ass-kicking for the ages.

But while any reasonable person would simply concede, it’s not surprising that a guy who doesn’t believe in science would also struggle with math: Despite trailing by a margin of 20,715 votes, Moore wants a recount.

Hooo boy yeah that’s just not gonna happen. I mean, it literally could happen: According to Republican Secretary of State (and zealous vote-suppressor) John Merrill, Moore is free to request a recount no matter how much he trails by as long as he’s willing to pay. Of course, one of the many things Moore sucked at throughout his campaign was raising money. Can he really find enough willing dupes to finance some kind of WWII-Japanese-soldiers-not-surrendering-in-the-Filipine-jungle-for-decades kind of dead-ender gambit? Yeah, probably.

Congratulations to Decency

THIS

The people of Alabama just told a dirty old wanker that he really was not up to snuff. Bloody marvellous.

C'mon, Alabama, why is this even a question?

It is astounding to me that anyone should vote for him. I watched a news report tonight from C4 news (UK) and the total dissociation from reality about who this man is from voters is fucking ridiculous. One chaps analysis is clear - it is all about abortion, even though Moore cannot change that shit. You can fuck a real life child as long as you try and save none children. Voting for dirty old wankers seems to becoming a habit in the US

Just a reminder about how fantastic the amazing FLOTUS was
