About Me

I am a Brit. I am a working class child of the troubles in Belfast who now lives a life of privilege. I am an anti-racist, progressive monster for truth. If I fail in being that monster, call me out....

Clinton Accuser Juanita Broaddrick Not Sure She Believes Women About Trump, Though

Juanita Broaddrick, the former Arkansas nursing home operator who accused Bill Clinton of rape, is not so sure she believes the sixteen women who have accused Donald Trump of sexual misconduct.

“I don’t think it’s ever too late to say you believe me,” Broaddrick tells Newsweek. “But the coming days and months will tell us if they’re sincere.”

Broaddrick has “no idea” whether they are lying or not. “I felt sorry for them,” she says. “I felt like they had a right to be heard. But I also felt at the same time that they should bear investigation, scrutiny and vetting. I think it’s only fair for all parties involved.”

Cat hair helps to catch would be Barack Obama assassin, authorities say

A tiny cat hair helped to identify the women behind a plot to kill Barack Obama, according to legal documents filed in a Texas court.

Julia Poff stands accused of posting explosives to the then president, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Maryland’s Social Security Administrator Carolyn Colvin last October.

While the packaged intended for Mr Obama was intercepted, Mr Abbott did open the one that was sent to him but it failed to explode.

Don Jr.'s friend explains his 'very smart' Russia investigation strategy

Donald Trump Jr. is increasingly at the center of the Trump-Russia investigation, what with the Trump Tower meeting with Russians who offered dirt on Hillary Clinton and the Wikileaks messages. But that’s not stopping him from continuing to run his mouth as if he faces no danger, and one of his friends explains the keen strategic thinking involved:

“He’s very smart to be in the spotlight,” said Charlie Kirk, a friend and the founder of the conservative college and high school group Turning Point USA. “Would they stop the investigation if he stopped tweeting? He’s in a situation where either you defend yourself, reassure the base, reassure the supporters, or stay silent. And if you’re totally silent, it only increases suspicion.”

The Trump base is with him, Kirk added: “Most people can’t even keep up with this stuff, anyway.”
It’s almost like this guy is intent on making Josh Marshall look like a prophet. Back in July, Marshall wrote:

The abiding sense I get is not simply that they don’t know the magnitude of the legal threat but that they don’t understand the nature of the threat either. Again and again they seem to think the legal vulnerability can be trumped by good news cycles or getting the press to focus on some other individual. They don’t seem to get that a big, sprawling federal investigation like this, untethered from the political chain of command and led by one of the top law enforcement professionals of his generation, trundles onward with a perfect indifference to whether you win the morning or kill it in 10 or a 100 different news cycles. Those things just don’t matter.

Trump fans howl in rage after Ivanka defends Malia Obama: Shes fair game

Ivanka Trump defended Malia Obama after conservative websites circulated photos of the former president’s adult daughter blowing smoke rings — and the current president’s fans howled in rage.

The 19-year-old Obama is now a student at Harvard University, and photos of her doing young adult things like attending concerts, kissing young men and smoking have been published by tabloids and right-wing sites.

“Malia Obama should be allowed the same privacy as her school aged peers,” Trump tweeted Friday afternoon. “She is a young adult and private citizen, and should be OFF limits.”

How Obama and Trump spent Thanksgiving as President says it all

When you begin to dig a little deeper though, you discover that there is something much less amusing going on.

For a holiday that is supposed to spread thanks and gratitude, Trump has spent the majority of it congratulating himself and his entourage at his Mar-a-lago complex in Florida.

According to Verified Politics, the President will spend the weekend playing golf and dining with the elite members of Florida's high society, a not uncommon trend for Trump.
As with nearly every aspect of life; be it vacations, Halloween or meeting victims of disasters, Trump and Barack Obama have a very different approach to things.

Rather than playing golf or sounding off on his achievements, Mr Obama, his wife Michelle and their daughters often spent their Thanksgiving serving food to those in need.

What the hell happened to the stiff upper lip?!?!

The scenes @ Oxford Circus today?....... good grief. An unsubstantiated something from nowhere starts a panic rippling through the heart of the west end, with people fleeing like frightened rabbits. The Soho bomber never managed to invoke this level of panic. The IRA wished they could have made Londoners react like this. Hitler could not manage it, and yet we see the lock down of the heart of the capital over nothing. No suspects, no shots fired, no casualties and yet there was a human stampede. I get that people are more aware at the moment after London Bridge and Westminster, but it seems to me when we are under attack our stiff upper lip is proudly on display, this afternoon, not so much...no attack and no stiff upper lip. Does anyone else think it a tad embarrassing?

As a caveat I will say I was raised in Belfast in the troubles so I am hardier than most when it comes to 'terror' scares. Been there, done that.....again.....and again....and again.....Also been there and done that for actual terror, of course.

South African court doubles Oscar Pistorius's prison sentence

Source: The Guardian

A South African appeal court has more than doubled the former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius’s prison sentence for murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

The supreme court of appeal (SCA) increased Pistorius’s sentence from six years in prison to 13 years and five months.

Pistorius killed Steenkamp by firing four bullets from a handgun through a closed toilet door in his luxury home in Pretoria on Valentine’s Day 2013. He claimed he mistook her for a burglar.

Steenkamp’s family welcomed the increased sentence and said it showed that justice could prevail in South Africa. “This is an emotional thing for them. They just feel that their trust in the justice system has been confirmed this morning,” Tania Koen, a spokeswoman for the Steenkamp family, said.

Built 1132. Sacked by Henry. Still standing. Splendid

Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire was founded in 1132 and sacked by Henry the Eighth. It is a world heritage site and so very splendid to visit.
