About Me

I am a Brit. I am a working class child of the troubles in Belfast who now lives a life of privilege. I am an anti-racist, progressive monster for truth. If I fail in being that monster, call me out....

Very old tree in a very old wall

A wall in Waverley Abbey - a ruined Abbey in Surrey. The Abbey was sacked by Henry the Eighth.

What do we do when they come back?

We have a problem. Misfits, the mentally ill, the vulnerable and the friendless were targeted by an extremist death cult, and some fell for the murderous hype. Current estimates suggest that around 600 British citizens travelled to Syria and Iraq to take part in the rather grandiosely named Islamic State. It was never Islamic, and it was never a State and I am very sure that these addled brained (generally very young) people got the shock of their lives when having finally found somewhere they think they belonged ended up in the middle of the harsh reality of an extreme and very nasty war.

Some of our pampered boys and girls started to come home before rather dramatic fall of ISIS’s ‘capital’. Of the 600 who are known to have travelled to Syria, at least 300 have returned. No doubt some have reappeared as a sort of extremist death cult missionary, to try and convince further young people to take a flight to almost certain death. Others, having looked left, looked right and realised they had made a HUGE mistake in believing the murderous hype they had been fed, are phoning Mummy and Daddy and begging for a plan that would enable them to escape the horrors they have landed themselves in and they desperately wish to return to the comfort and security of their homes. At this point many have nowhere else to go, other than home, as they risk capture and almost certain execution if they continue to hang out in either Iraq or Syria, heading back to blighty is almost certainly a much better option that that.

A couple of weeks ago the UK Defence Secretary said these boys and girls are legitimate targets who (and I am paraphrasing here) could not claim the protections of the state, that we should take them out on foreign soil to stop any risk to society if they return. So very right wing and hang the rule of law. State justified murdered cloaked in a respectable layer of national security is never a good plan in maintaining a civil society. These young people, may or may not be a security risk on return. But how will we know? We cannot jail all of them. We cannot follow all of them. Scarily, 300 of the young people who ran off to Syria in the couple of years where unknown to the Security Services before they left. Of course, they will now be known to Security Services when/if they return. What do we do with them when they inevitably come running home?

Older than dirt and just plain whiny

Hey, you. Yes, you….. we know you are older than dirt and the world has changed out of all recognition in your life time, but we have a pretence at equality now, and the situation was improving all the time and we are not going to allow you to take us back to the ‘good ole days’. We know equality and justice is an alien concept and makes you feel uncomfortable with the world. But it is time to listen up, no-one is out to get you, not even a little bit. They really are not. But your pretence that they are is what seems to give you your permission to be offensive to others. Yeah, yeah, I know. You say that you do not intend any harm by what you say or what you do. As you ‘really’ do not mean to ‘offend’ the big cry-babies, to whom your barbs and taunts are directed, that we should hitch up our big man pants and take it on the chin, all the while you stamp your foot and pout.

Here is the thing, you do not get to decide what other people should find offensive. Today minorities get to stand up and say hell no. And guess what, there is not a single thing you can do about it, however much you try and shut us up and shut us down.

With your dog whistles, your misogyny and sexism, your homophobia and islamophobia, we do find you offensive.

With your demands that we must tolerate your intolerance, we do find you offensive.

With your cries of us being anti-white because we refuse to accept that your white is right, we do find you offensive.

With your increasingly shrill demands that seek to exclude communities from equality, we do find you offensive.

You may think the fact that you have elected a white supremacist gives you permission to be as offensive as you want while claiming victim hood. Nope. The faux offended shtick while you are causing offence is not going to work. We get to decide what is and is not offensive. In 2018, you do not get to decide that. You are not victim.

Just sayin'

Michael Moore Just Announced Plans To Start Fracking Off The Coast Of Mar-a-Lago (TWEETS)

On Thursday, the Trump administration said that it would allow new offshore oil and gas drilling in nearly all U.S. States coastal waters. Trump is lifting a ban on such drilling imposed by former President Barack Obama. Even the Republican governor of Florida vowed to protect his state’s coast from drilling after the Trump administration announced its plans.

Well, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore responded to Trump’s move in the best way possible.

“Our fracking off the coast of Mar-a-Lago begins right after Labor Day,” Moore tweeted. “I’ve already got the rig — a beautiful Halliburton G-0008 fracking system with a monster Caterpillar engine!”

Trump may deny the UK a Brexit trade deal if he's snubbed from Prince Harry's wedding

US president Donald Trump really wants to go to Prince Harry's wedding to actress Meghan Markle.

So much so, he's apparently threatening to withhold a vital post-Brexit trade deal with the UK if he doesn't receive an invitation to the royal nuptials.

That's according to Michael Wolff, author of the explosive new "Fire & Fury: Inside the White House" book, which digs into the Trump administration.

Wolff made the suggestion to the Mail on Sunday in an interview saying that Trump "doesn't like being snubbed and wants to be the centre of attention all the time."

He said Trump would only "value the Brits" if the UK gives him what he wants.

Trump has a standing state invitation to the UK, and is expected to visit the country at some point.

But Wolff said Trump was primarily interested in turning the visit into a reality TV spectacle — and that he saw the Queen as a major rival.

"He sees the Queen in reality TV show terms. That’s the Trump modus operandi. He will try to Trumpalise the Queen and Buckingham Palace."

It isn't clear that Prince Harry will oblige, even for a crucial trade deal. He is publicly on much friendlier terms with Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama, joking around with him at the Invictus Games in September and even interviewing him for the BBC.

Hate group Liberty Counsel is now a church!

Somehow the hate group known as Liberty Counsel has managed to convince the Internal Revenue Service that it is a church or church support organization. The result of this is that Liberty Counsel is no longer required to file an annual report with the IRS which means that the organization will operate in secrecy. If that is not bad enough, Congress has passed a measure that makes auditing churches nearly impossible.

Trump washes his hands of insurgency against GOP incumbents

President Donald Trump says he's done campaigning for insurgents challenging incumbent Republican members of Congress.

Trump told reporters after meeting GOP House and Senate leaders at Camp David on Saturday that he's planning a robust schedule of campaigning for the 2018 midterm elections and that includes involvement in the Republican primaries. He'll campaign for incumbents, he said, and "anybody else that has my kind of thinking."

But after a stinging loss in Alabama, Trump said he's done supporting challengers, declaring: "I don't see that happening." Trump had supported Roy Moore after he won the GOP primary. Moore's defeat in the subsequent special election handed Democrats another seat in the Senate.
