YouTube is finally banning content that promotes white supremacist views on its video platform. But it will still permit videos it classifies as “borderline,” which isn’t clearly defined, as well as a host of other problematic content.

The Google-owned platform said on Wednesday that it’s updating its hate speech policy to prohibit “videos alleging that a group is superior in order to justify discrimination, segregation or exclusion based on qualities like age, gender, race, caste, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status.”

The company specifically said this new policy would ban videos that promote Nazi ideology. It’s also axing content that denies well-documented violent events, such as the Holocaust and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Uber just filed its first quarterly report as a publicly traded company. Although it lost $1bn, investors may still do well because the losses appear to be declining.

Uber drivers, on the other hand, aren’t doing well. According to a recent study, about half of New York’s Uber drivers are supporting families with children, yet 40% depend on Medicaid and another 18% on food stamps.

The jobs problem today isn’t just stagnant wages. It’s also uncertain incomes. A downturn in demand, change in consumer preferences, or a personal injury or sickness, can cause future paychecks to disappear. Yet nearly 80% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

During a hearing about the government’s response to white supremacy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) demanded to know why incidents of domestic terrorism weren’t treated with the same consistency under the Department of Justice.

“We’ve also heard from experts that whether the FBI classifies extremist violence as, ‘domestic terrorism, or a hate crime,’ has major implications on resource allocation and prioritization within the bureau,” she said. “Mr. McGarrity, the FBI considers preventing terrorism its number one priority, isn’t that right?”

“We have seen white supremacist attacks that were clearly domestic terrorism,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Experts, in fact — the former acting AG, Jeff Sessions, even called some of these incidents domestic terrorism incidents. The Emmanuel A.M.E. church shooting of black Americans in Charlottesville and the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh of Jewish people. Those were only designated and charged as hate crimes. not domestic terrorist incidents.”

Ocasio-Cortez asked how the discrepancy could exist. The only difference between Dylann Roof and the Pulse Night Club shooter was their religion and race. Both were Americans.

As we all know, Trump is a big fan of Fox News and watches it for an unhealthy amount of time each day, but unfortunately for the president Fox News isn't available in the UK.

However, it's parent company 21st Century Fox pulled it from the airwaves two years ago after they deemed it to have been a commercial failure.

It should also be noted that in November 2017, Ofcom found that Fox News was guilty of breaking impartiality rules on UK television, especially in relation to the Manchester Arena bombing and Trump's executive order, which banned Muslim's from seven different nations from entering the United States.

In truth, however, a schism of this kind was always likely, if not inevitable – even if you don’t take Change’s abysmal showing in last week’s European Parliament elections as a given. That the party could maintain its coherence as a fighting force has always been doubtful. Since its inception it has been bedevilled by splits on two fundamental issues: economic policy and electoral strategy. The latter question has taken on a new urgency in the light of the recovery of the Liberal Democrats, and it has been clear for weeks that Umunna and Allen’s pro-cooperation position could not be reconciled with that of Soubry and Leslie.
