About Me

I am a Brit. I am a working class child of the troubles in Belfast who now lives a life of privilege. I am an anti-racist, progressive monster for truth. If I fail in being that monster, call me out....

A feminist in fulsome...

All of this. Every woman needs to get to this point... because patriarchy will not die without a huge bloody battle.

They are also the folks who:

You cannot argue with that level of stupidity, racists bollocks and hypocrisy rolled into one

Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice

Of course when we put malice and stupidity together in one great orange headed fuckwit it takes shit to the next level. Words of caution indeed from the last century to this century, and he is right trying to reason with the stupid is a fools endeavour indeed.

😍Finals for the April contest are now posted in GD😍

I cannot tell you what an honour it has been to manage the contest this month. The standard of entries have been out of this world and every single one of you that has put up a picture is a winner. With that being said of course the finals can only have a certain number of entries. Thank you all of participating and you know what I am going to say now. 72 hours of voting and much kicking will be required.

The link is here.

Go vote for your favourite and start kicking!!

😀The April Photography Final Vote Is Now Open For Business😀

Hey all

We have had a marvellous April contest to date. The images have been awe inspiring. Based on "bokeh, the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light" the glorious photography of an exceptionally talented group of DUers has been a blessing in a time of uncertainty. Managing this contest has certainly lifted my spirits.

The poll will stay open for 72 hours and I will be announcing the winner shortly thereafter.

We have 10 entries in the final this month as on one thread we had a tie for third place. We had 636 votes in total and thank you to everyone who turned out to vote in the first round. You have chosen the following pictures for the final round. So without further ado…

Up close and personal

Portal to another world!

Cherry Blossoms

Hearty Congratulations to everyone who made it to the final round.
Posted to GD as per Skinners permission

This has to be up there for best headline of the week

Not sure why they put moron in inverted comma's though

But of course he was just being sarcastic and the fake news media took it all out of context...

14 hours to go until voting ends on the initial round of photography marvel!

So can I have a really big last push on kicking here:

You have all been amazing keeping it front and central. Thank you so much and now for that final push, please kick to your hearts content on a locked down Friday evening!

I will be posting the finals tomorrow and I will obvs nag you relentlessly to keep that kicked too. The standard has been utterly breathtaking this time round. You know that feeling when you want to compete and you do, but you know you have no chance of making the final, because everyone else was that good. This is one of those competitions for me. You are wonderful, talented and just good eggs. Hurrah. Now please do me a favour and give this round one final kick because I truly believe the pictures you all put up are just plain great for our souls right now.

He's just so stupid

Indeed. A very special kinda special

How many of the cult are going to try this snake oil bollocks from Trump cause they think he is the 2nd coming and end up sick or dead because of it?

He is a danger to humanity.

And let everyone remember in November that:

Article 25 Section 4 Stat

Woke this morning to Donald Trump suggesting that injecting people with 'DISINFECTANT' and hitting 'the body with a very powerful light' could kill Covid-19.

Blinks rapidly. Tries to dismiss the notion that we are all doomed. Remembers the constitution has thought about what needs to happen when the President has a mental health breakdown in front of the world.

Section 4 be like he has finally lost his mind COMPLETELY, he must be removed from office right now to save the republic.

Life and death and Covid

I am a child of the troubles in Northern Ireland and death has a particular resonance with this community. We mourn and celebrate in a way that is not seen anywhere else. This is a product of our ability to cope with violence and death on a daily basis, in the old (but well remembered days) where we feel our loss keenly. It is a complicated picture. Typically, within minutes of someone being declared dead people are knocking on the front door with tray bakes and casserole. The family is either offering whisky or tea but the waves of people keep coming to keep wake. There are waves and waves of visitors. The body is viewed at the funeral home or at the family home and within 48 hours the funeral takes place. We walk behind the coffin, with chaps of different heights carrying the coffin on their shoulders. Always a bit worrying. And then we start with the comparisons about turnout at the funeral… well Jimmy had 250 but Tom who died a wee while back had 400…Heh. Funerals matter to community. We have a funny association with death. And right now the community is suffering. Funerals are a huge part of who we are. And now 10 people at a graveyard for the funeral, no church service, and then not being allowed into the graveyard after the funeral because of social isolation.

Today people are protesting in Ulster.

They are not protesting to get a hair cut, they are protesting to open graveyards so they can go visit their loved ones who have died cause Covid 19. Priorities is a real thing.

My mother lost a close friend last week. The community went in their cars to show mourning as the hearse stopped at their church. I know that they grieve and love and show solidarity, it was not enough, they were not able to do all the things that a scarred community needs to keep life and death and past terrorism and covid together.

Compare and contrast is a thing and just sayin'
