Oximeters for administrative assistants day

So we are all working remotely and assistants did not get flowers, donuts or lunch at a restaurant. Probably did not remind us because everyone is anxious to keep their job and not wanting to rattle the bosses because we are freaked out about payroll. (Looks as though we will eke by and not lose anyone).

Sitting at home, I ordered oximeters for the staff. Recent articles indicate that Covid patients are dropping dead in ERs even before they are in respiratory distress or very shortly after experiencing breathing problems. Talking on cell phones then dropping dead. If doctors could have tested O2 levels days and weeks before the patient died, they might have been able to treat the patient with oxygen.

Oximeters May become as essential as thermometers while we are fighting this sneaky killer.

Other ideas for admin assistant day or Motherís Day
- order flowers from local businesses to keep them going
-order take home food for employees/moms
-order specialty stamps suitable for the employee/mom with themes they would approve (and help post office)

Nice exchange with Bernie campaigner

Received a text from Bernie campaign urging me to vote for Bernie in Florida primary. I texted back that I was voting for Joe. Then, I thought my response was a little terse, so I added ďThank you for your activism and I will vote blue no matter who.Ē She responded with a thank you for letting her know and to have a good day.

Good outreach. Nice person. There are good people whom we will need in the general election.

Is Schumer working the refs for the Obamacare hearing?

Hearing is March 15, decision much later. Is Schumer reminding Roberts of his role in history?

If so, I approve.

Bernie lost his moment

Presidential candidates have had moments that have defined their campaigns ... Obama when he talked about reverend white and race, JFK when he spoke about Catholicism to Texas southern Baptists, GHW Bush with the vision thing (and checking his watch), Clinton on 60minutes (ďI have caused pain in my marriageĒ). Bernieís 60 minutes interview was a lost moment. Things began to turn there. Itís not the academic point he made about Castro; it was the academic manner in which he made his point about Castro. A little less detachment, a little more feeling. When Bernie talks from the heart, itís effective. When he screams about oligarchs and brushes off totalitarianism, he steps away from most Americans. I donít know just how he could have reeled us in, but that was his moment. He might not get another one.

Unity message from President Obama

I received this message and request for donation from President Obama:

Mary --
It is our collective responsibility as Democrats and as Americans to build a strong party that is well-prepared to win back the White House. I know from experience thatís something we can only do together, Mary, and hereís why:
You and I have the luxury of thinking ahead to the general election -- but our candidates do not. Theyíre preparing for the next primary contest and spending their time and energy making their cases to voters.
This is important work, but it also puts the eventual Democratic nominee at a disadvantage going into the general election. Our urgent priority is to make sure our nominee and candidates down the ballot have everything they need to take on Republicans and their massive fundraising machine in November.
I will wholeheartedly support whichever candidate wins our partyís nomination. And now Iím asking you, Mary: Will you join me in supporting the Democratic Unity Fund with a $500 contribution today? Our partyís nominee and Democrats nationwide are counting on your investment

The sentence, "I will wholeheartedly support whichever candidate wins our party's nomination" was highlighted.

Good reminder that we are all in this together. Thank you, our once and always President!

No more caucuses

Also, no more Winner Take All in the primaries. Letís have one person, one vote, and apportion the delegates based on the votes. The concept of winning states instead of votes is diluting the power of the vote in the national elections ... letís not do the same in the primaries
