In toxic cultures, people experience a broad range of unproductive feelings of helplessness, distrust, defensiveness, anger, apathy, and even depression. When habitually neurotic employees are advanced to key leadership positions, it is inevitable that people and organizations will suffer. People in such cultures feel trapped and uncertain about their futures and careers. They resort to behaviors that are unproductive for themselves and their organization. Employees subjected to neurotic managerial styles often experience stress and lowered quality of work life. Some eventually leave otherwise acceptable jobs and work environments to be rid of the abuse."

Maybe not as good for ratings but better for the country.

Advice to all legislators up for reelection:

1. Go to your district and have numerous meetings with your constituents.
2. Don't make the meetings about you.
3. Listen to concerns and take notes.
4. Formulate a plan of action from notes. The plan that got you elected before is out of date.
5. Report back to constituents with a concrete plan of action that is tailored to your district.
6. Act and report back frequently.

Trump is postponing his inevitable ouster to make a favorable (in his mind) impact on history. He wants to be remembered for fulfilling his campaign promises. It doesn't matter how ill advised or just plain ignorant they were. He also needs as much time as possible to fill his bank accounts and those of his children. Ride the ride as long as possible.
