Waves

I wrote this about five years ago. I touched it up today to bring it into line with the current state of my heart's affairs.

WAVES

I surf on tumbling waves
Of thought, feeling, sensation, awareness.
I know the chaos may settle soon,
But this tumult makes me feel so damned alive!

There used to be a part of me that was afraid of revealing myself.
"Be cool," it would warn me.
"Put on those fancy shades."
"Keep up the wall, and whatever you do,
Don’t open the door beyond a crack."

WELL, FUCK THAT NOISE!

In this moment there is no room to be detached,
Removed, unaffected, ironic, objective, disengaged.

A fire has been unbanked inside me,
Your breath has fanned it back to life.
My spirit begs to dance in its heart.
I yearn to be purified in those flames
(Oh god, so much!)
To feel them melt away this crust of slag
And reveal the bright, hot, running metal underneath.

Your hour has come round at last.
Straighten up, rough beast!
Don’t slouch!
It’s your birthday.

It looks like I have a bit of a Sufi heart. Who know?

The Voice in the Mirror

Truthseeker, heartspeaker, please come and take my hand.
Good.
Now take just one deep, slow breath.
Yes.
Now another. And one more.

I know you mean well, I know how earnest your desire.
You don't need to try so hard.
Relax, rest, let it flow.
Trust.
Trust me.
Trust your Self.
What you seek is right here.
Trust me.

Listen to the heart whose voice you long to speak.
What is it saying?
Can you breathe deeply and slowly enough to hear it?
Of course you can.
It's all right here.

Where is the truth you seek?
Yes, it's partly in your heart,
Bathed in the bright sunshine of your own nature.

But it's also hidden at the bottom of your Shame Locker.
It's way down there amongst the rot and grime.
Under mouldy layers of childhood crimes,
Bound tight by the roots of pride, prejudice and self-punishment.

You do know it's what makes you truly human, right?
Yes, you know it - you simply don't trust enough yet to believe it.
The truth you seek is in your whirling dance with Shame,

Lit from within by heartlight,
Made visible by compassion,
Made acceptable by surrender.

The whirling dance will stop. Trust me.
The first time you trust enough
To open the lid and let another look deep inside,
You will be redeemed.

Until then, rest.
It's been a long and busy day.

Street photography: Crosswalker

I took this on a lunchtime walkabout, the summer before last in Ottawa.

The crosswalk is under about four grey inches of ice and slush right now. The dreams lie buried, but they will rise again!

Mueller got Gates to roll by going after his wife

Same prosecutor (Weissmann), same MO he used with with Enron's Fastow

Rick Gates, once the man ‘in the corner,’ is now a central figure in Mueller investigation

Among friends in Richmond, Gates’s frequent overseas travel and ties to Russian oligarchs have long been the topics of good-natured jokes, according to people who know him. But his new high-profile role as a target of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has revealed startling details about his life.

While Gates listed $2.2 million in assets in 2011, he filed a 2016 credit application saying he had a liquid net worth of $25 million and that his wife was worth $30 million, according to a filing by prosecutors. Gates controlled as many as 30 bank accounts in the past six months, including several in Cyprus in which he held more than $10 million, according to court documents. In August, his wife transferred more than $1 million to a joint brokerage account, the filings said.

“That just blew my mind, I couldn’t believe it,” said one of Gates’s associates, who requested anonymity to describe personal interactions with the consultant. The associate, like others who know him, had thought Gates “lived modestly.”

Boom.

CNN: Gates may be negotiating with Mueller

Exclusive: New signs Gates may be negotiating with Mueller's team

Former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates has quietly added a prominent white-collar attorney, Tom Green, to his defense team, signaling that Gates' approach to his not-guilty plea could be changing behind the scenes.

Green, a well-known Washington defense lawyer, was seen at special counsel Robert Mueller's office twice last week. CNN is told by a source familiar with the matter that Green has joined Gates' team.

Green isn't listed in the court record as a lawyer in the case and works for a large law firm separate from Gates' primary lawyers.

Green's involvement suggests that there is an ongoing negotiation between the defendant's team and the prosecutors. At this stage, with Gates' charges filed and bail set, talks could concern the charges and Gates' plea. The defense and prosecution are currently working together on discovery of evidence.

The rats are all trying to grab the last deck chair as the Trumptanic continues to take on water.

Some decent speculation on why Baker was reassigned

It might all revolve around Comey's firing and making sure there's a solid obstruction case. Seems like reasonable speculation to me, especially considering who is speculating: a former FBI Special Agent, Counterintelligence Division.

So is the Gang of Four getting any more love here lately?

I mean Eric Garland, John Schindler, Louise and Claude.

The reason I ask is that Garland has just published a thread on an analytical study he did called GRINGO11. The report, which is not published in its entirety for reasons that should become obvious, tracks deza publications, along with troll and bot attacks, along with a wealth of background information on the originators and interconnections of the attack sources. He mentions the "Gang of Four" specifically as targets of such attacks. He put the attacks on a timeline that is based on "bad news for Trump" news stories. Guess what pattern emerged?

He says democracy isn't toast yet, but we need the Fairness Doctrine back ASAP.

A theory about Bannon's lawyer's phone calls to WH

No telephones are normally allowed in a SCIF, so the calls would have been made during breaks in the proceedings. Calls during a break could have been made out of earshot of other participants.

Burck might have two calls: one call to the WH, to set up the WH to make press statements about it, then a second call to Mueller's office to get the instructions that Bannon actually followed.

I know, we'll never know. But it does satisfy the two criteria - what the WH said to the press, and the likely fact that Bannon is a cooperating witness. One call as cover to fake out the WH, the second call for reals.

On edit: I don't know what that would do to Burck's conflict of interest position vis a vis the WH.

Bannon refused to answer House panel's questions about time in White House

Source: Politico

President Donald Trump's former adviser Steve Bannon refused to answer questions Tuesday from the House intelligence committee about his time in the White House, prompting panel members to subpoena him on the spot, according to a person familiar with the interview.

Bannon appeared before the committee as part of its investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, speaking just weeks after a falling-out with Trump over comments he made in an explosive new book.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) confirmed Tuesday that he issued a subpoena for Bannon. “Of course I authorized the subpoena," he told reporters. "That’s how the rules work.”

The source said Republican lawmakers — including Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) and former federal prosecutor Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) — were frustrated that Bannon was not more forthcoming. Bannon did not invoke executive privilege, the source said.
