(CNN)The Trump administration is considering granting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman legal immunity from a federal lawsuit alleging that he ordered an assassination squad to kill a former top Saudi intelligence official who shared information with the US, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Saad Aljabri alleges in his lawsuit in DC District Court that the Saudi prince sent members of the same assassination squad that killed journalist Jamal Khashoggi to Canada, where Aljabri now lives in exile, to target him as well.

Aljabri filed a suit in US federal court because it alleges wrongdoing in the US, a spokesperson for Aljabri told CNN earlier this year. President Donald Trump has been strongly supportive of the prince, known by his initials MBS, despite US intelligence agencies' conclusion that the Saudi royal had ordered Khashoggi's killing in 2018. Khashoggi, a columnist for The Washington Post, had written critically about the prince's policies in the kingdom.

Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward wrote in his book "Rage" that when he pressed Trump on MBS's role in Khashoggi's murder in 2018, the President told him that the prince "says very strongly that he didn't do it." According to Woodward, Trump also doubled down on protecting MBS during the Khashoggi controversy, saying, "I saved his ass." Trump added: "I was able to get Congress to leave him alone. I was able to get them to stop," the book said.

Pete Buttigieg Vetted For Cabinet Posts ... Commerce, HUD, EPA on the Table
*Okay, this is not exactly a serious news source, but it sounds about right - I was reading an article about actor David L. Lander (Squiggy) when I came across this....TMZ - Joe Biden said the LGBTQ+ community would be represented in his cabinet, and sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, Pete Buttigieg is actively under consideration for various posts, but we're told he didn't get his first choice.
Sources privy to the selection process tell TMZ, Buttigieg is being vetted for what could be a significant appointment. We're told the possible appointment includes Secretary of Commerce and HUD. We're told he's also under consideration to head the EPA.
Our sources say another post that has been a subject of discussion is Veterans Affairs. As you know, Pete served in Afghanistan and has a strong connection to the military. We're told, although the V.A. remains a possibility for Pete, it's unlikely.
We're told what Buttigieg really wanted was U.N. Ambassador, but obviously, that position has already been filled.

William Barr gets the cold shoulder from the White House
(Washington Post via MSN) If theres a member of President Trumps Cabinet who has gone furthest out on a limb for him, it might be Attorney General William P. Barr. Since issuing a misleadingly pro-Trump summary of the Mueller report, he has intervened in a number of cases on behalf of Trumps allies, sometimes in extraordinary ways. He has also echoed Trumps controversial rhetoric on issues such as mail voting and antifa.
But even Barr has apparently become a squish in the eyes of Trumpworld. And on Wednesday, he received a rather conspicuous lack of an endorsement from the White House.
In a news briefing, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was asked whether Trump has confidence in Barr after the attorney general said Tuesday that he had found no voter fraud on the level required to change the results of the 2020 election. Her answer was decidedly noncommittal even more so than past instances in which she has been asked about other administration officials and nominees.
Does he have faith in Attorney General William P. Barr? Does he still have confidence in him? asked NBC Newss Kristen Welker.
McEnany declined to commit to that.

(HuffPost) General Services Administration chief Emily Murphy, who has refused to authorize the transition process for President-elect Joe Biden, fired off her first tweet in nearly two weeks on Wednesday and it wasnt what anyone was expecting.
The tweet was ultimately deleted.
President Donald Trump appointed Murphy to the administrator position in 2017. As head of the GSA, she is expected to deliver an apolitical ascertainment naming the apparent successful candidate of the presidential election, which in turn begins the process of the transition of power. To date, Murphy has refused to do so despite Bidens 306-232 win in the Electoral College and a lead of nearly 6 million ballots in the popular vote.
Murphy has not spoken publicly about her decision, leaving many Twitter critics to guess at what her enigmatic tweet meant:
