TomSlick's JournalHot Springs, AR Keep Families Together Protest
Herself, our son, daughter-in-law and I attended the Keep Families Together Protest in Hot Springs. The protest doubled as a counter-protest of an anti-immigrant event on National Park land. Because the anti-immigrant group had reserved the park land, the protesters organized in front of the National Park HQ - heard a couple speeches - and then started marching back and forth in front of bathhouse road.
I'd guess from 250 to 300 protesters of all ages. Given that it was hotter than the hinges of hell, not a bad crowd. A National Park Ranger I asked sized the anti-immigrant group at "very few." There were more park rangers on duty keeping the protesters moving than inside the anti-immigrant corral.

Speaker with a sign I really liked.
The anti-immigrant "crowd." The sign held by the genius who posed for me said "Better Dead Than Red" with a hammer and sickle with a cross-out. No, irony isn't dead.
Have we stopped talking about children in cages?
I got it, stuff is really bad but children continue to suffer.
Help. Cat up a tree.
My dog has run a cat up a tree. It hasn't moved for a couple of hours. I figure it's either terrified or caught in a tight "V" in the tree.
It's too high up the tree to reach, especially late at night.
Any good ideas?

George Takei reaction to putting new family prison near site of Japanese-American internment camp.
Following is a link to a story in the on-line Arkansas Democrat-Gazette about George Takei's reaction to the administration considering placing one of the new family prisons near the site of the Rohwer, Arkansas internment camp where he was imprisoned as a child.
This is interesting because the Democrat-Gazette is a really conservative paper. Don't be deceived by the name.

History doesn't repeat itself but it rhymes.
Rachel just tried to read a story about "tender age" facilities for stolen children
and broke down crying.
All I can do - for now.
I have grown increasingly angry about the abuse of children on the southern border that it being done in my name. Then I started thinking about what Jesus said in Matthew 25 about not doing things for the least of these and it occurred to me that I wasn't doing anything except being angry.
I then wrote a letter to my Congressman and two Senators - all three of whom claim to be Christians - and told them we all risk the wrath of God if we don't do all we can to stop the abuse of children, that all I could do was write my elected representatives, but that they must do more if they want to continue to claim to be Christians.
Mind you, I'll vote against all three of these cretins at every opportunity but in the meanwhile, all I can do is write.
Please, DUers in red districts need to write their Representative and Senators. If they claim to be Christian, threaten eternal damnation.
