Gore: Progressive ideas 'gaining ground' among Democrats

TheHill:

Former Vice President Al Gore believes Democrats are becoming more willing to embrace progressive ideas on issues such as climate change and healthcare.

"I do think progressive viewpoints are gaining ground in the Democratic Party — I’ve supported single-payer for 15 years now, and we are seeing a big change across the board," Gore said Thursday during a SiriusXM/Variety Magazine town hall.

"If you look at state government and state politics and local politics, the change is more pronounced there.”
Gore doubled down this week on the need for single-payer healthcare amid the Senate Republicans' trouble coalescing around a plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare. He had previously signaled support for the policy in 2002 but didn't include it in his 2000 presidential platform.

Over the past few months, Democrats have been more open to the single-payer approach that’s long been pushed by the more progressive pockets of the party. Single-payer healthcare was one of the main campaign platforms for Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I-Vt.) Democratic presidential bid in 2016, and his allies continue to tout it.

I hope that this is the direction of the Dem Party. We will win more and more local/state/federal seats if we adopted and promote progressive/liberal FDR-like policies.

Time to embrace our heritage of being 'the party of the people'.

FBI probe into Sanders' wife started with 'hearsay'

The Hill:

"The FBI's source for information that sparked a probe into the wife of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) admitted this week that the information he passed along was hearsay, according to a local Vermont television station.

The FBI is reportedly looking into whether Jane Sanders falsified loan documents while she served as the president of Burlington College. The small Vermont liberal arts school closed down in May 2016 after going bankrupt and failing to meet accreditation standards.

Brady Toensing, the lawyer who passed on the information to the FBI, reportedly got his information from Republican State Rep. Don Turner, who told WCAX-TV in Vermont that he heard the information from friends.

According to the report, Turner's friends who recounted the incident to him were working at the bank Sanders allegedly pressured into approving a loan. Turner told WCAX-TV that he wouldn't have shared the information with federal officials."

Look like some here will have nothing to do now...
