If there is ever to be a silver lining in the horrible Vegas shoot out - I hope it is this.

I hope authorities never ever discover a motive for his killing or any kind of explanation. No mental illness , political beliefs. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

It will for once, I hope, focus attention away from the 'cause' to the effect and how guns enable it.

It will show killing on this scale CANNOT be predicted.

It will show that a man who is determined to kill will plan in a way without raising suspicion as long as he is within boundaries.

It will show that that our only hope is to make those boundaries as narrow as possible.

There is no earthly reason a person needs 20 thousand rifles.Or Twenty.

There is no reason he needs to discharge 2 rounds or more with a single squeeze of a trigger.

There is no reason he needs to have a 5 bullets in a cartridge. Not one reason.

I am hoping against hope, that this incident finally allows people to see, how our gun culture enables such tragedies.

Sadly, previous incidents allowed us the same understanding. But when you have the comfort of explaining it away with mental illness, racial hatred or feelings of revenge or any such reason, you don't see the most important piece of the puzzle.

We have a disproportionate number of gun deaths in our country. I do not believe, however, that we have a disproportionate number of evil or mentally ill people. We have a disproportionate number of guns and new gun sales.

We can fix this.

Rex Tillerson Reportedly Called Trump A Moron

Brilliant take down of the big 4 by my NYU Stern marketing professor

Scott Galloway is usually the wittiest person in the room ..and although he can be bit of a dick at times.. His classes were super insightful.

Is there any other instance in any democracy, where the lawmakers

are eager to support the profits of an industry over public safety and have succeeded so spectacularly?

That this is possible in a society as litigious as ours speaks volumes about resilience of gun laws that seem to defy political gravity and forces of reason. (Just like Trump)

I really wonder what the mysterious dark forces are play here. Forces that are not plainly visible - yet are obvious in their effect. It can't be just money or voter mobilization. There are groups with greater spending ability than NRA - but have nowhere the same access to the squeeze button for congressional testicles that NRA does.

I understand gun being an identity issue for some. But how does NRA get away with so much loot.

Will hotels start airport like security measures?

I expect lawsuits against the hotel from victims - that if successful , will prompt the measures from insurance industry that will force the hand of Hotels close to large populations.

If so, it will most certainly come in the form of additional room rent. Yet another way - the gun industry can benefit from externalities.

Gun stocks on the rise

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/02/gun-stocks-rise-after-deadly-las-vegas-shooting.html

Shares of Sturm Ruger and American Outdoor Brands rose nearly 4 percent or more in Monday morning trading.

At least 50 people died and more than 200 people were injured after Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire at a Las Vegas concert in what was apparently the deadliest shooting in U.S. history.

The gains in the gun stocks apparently came as traders bet on a pickup in arms sales ahead of potentially tighter regulations.
