Would democrats do better if they changed the name to "Republican+"?

I have a feeling that people are primarily voting against the name. If you ask republican voters their stances on individual issues (climate change, healthcare, helping the poor, path to citizenship for child immigration, even foreign policy sometimes) they mostly lean left. They vote against buzzwords, not actual policies. They're low information voters that see republican and think "'merca" and see democrat and think "commie hippy", and they themselves don't know why. The rightwing media has created Pavlovian dogs and that is why dog whistles are so effective.

I think planned parenthood would also benefit from a name change. This may just be the solution. If we can't stop their lies and propaganda, we need to stop the cognitive association that the propaganda grinds into republican voter's neural pathways.

Why can't we cut the military budget because it "hasn't produced results"?

I fail to see how destroying Iraq made me safer. It took 10 years, thousands of lives, and trillions of dollars to "produce results" regarding 9/11. And the steps it took to "produce" those "results" ended up making us less safe. And Trump supporters should agree with that! Since they apparently feel a more heightened sense of fear than that they felt following 9/11, which didn't require travel bans or turning the TSA into a molestation force.

So why are we increasing its budget instead of slashing it like other programs that "produce no results" like NASA, PBS, or Meals on Wheels?

Trump dismantles federal government; turns treasury into slush fund; builds military to prevent

Northern/Western states from seceding because he's mooching off their successful economies.

How likely? I'm not suggesting we reach succession but that military deterrents lampshades that issue entirely.

Why stop at healthcare? Why not make the police free-market as well?

Pay for the crimes YOU want! Basic packages include murder coverage and theft coverage. But if you want to be protected from crimes like assault or vandalism it'll cost extra. If a crime is committed against you then obviously your premiums will rise. And don't forget you may be rejected for preexisting conditions like living in a poor neighborhood or not being white. Predictably, premiums will be higher for women, especially if they opt for the rape and sexual assault packages, as they have a predisposition for being victims of those crimes; so don't worry us men won't need to cover the costs
If you don't get covered that's your choice and people will be able to do anything they want to you with impunity. Tough luck poors, you should've thought of that before you bought your iPhone that you dialed 911 on (btw the number is different for each police protection provider now so 911 won't work unless you carry a policy with that PD).

As Paul Ryan says "That's freedom"!

Is there something wrong with how our government is structured when

A party can win the Whitehouse by 3 million votes, and the Senate by 6 million votes, but then effectively hold zero power and be shut out of even low level positions of government.
The framers never expected the moral fiber of our politicians to unravel this much (how could they when a woman showing her ankle was unchaste in that time), nor did they expect the intellect and basic civility of those elected could diminish to the point we are at. The electoral college for instance was designed because they knew large swaths of humans will always be ignorant, but that should not affect the ideal of democratic elections. But we now see the electoral college staffed with the ignorant dirtfarmers that it was designed to defend against.

I fear for the sustainability of a country that can hold an election and the minority can sweep through every single corner of government and essentially turn the country into something not recognizable in idealogy to the tones and American ideals that previous administrations have set.

Worst Case Scenario: Does President Ben Carson send us to war with Russia?

If the absolute worst case scenario unfolds, where half the GOP are literally sleeper agents, rightwing media is owned and operated by Russia, Trump's pee tape drops, vote counts were tampered with, and everybody on the cabinet except Carson is found to have colluded in some way or another: what is our response. No lives were lost (save the people killed by Trump supporters), but our country would be in it's most perilous point since the civil war. How do we just respond with sanctions? Enough of Europe is scared of Russia to eagerly ally up for WWIII. As is Assad and Turkey. But the threat of Putin going bananas and detonating nukes from his Hitler-esque final days bunker is too real. Maybe a CIA assassination op on Putin?
