My primary physician shared this link for hurricane Florence relief donations

Mentioning Plano in the 1960's to a fellow DU'er got me looking for a pic

Jokingly mentioning that we occasionally shopped, laundered and perhaps grabbed a sandwich in a little town called Plano!
And there it was, the first pic on the link below: I recall being towed along in 1966 -8 or so with my mother doing laundry at that mat. my odd memory is asking mom "What's Speed Queen?" I was about 7 years old...LOL. I recall, to the best of my 60 years, this little strip was right along the street we used to take out of Richardson. (not I-75, but I think it joined up with it)
If the Rite Way cleaners sign was still up these days some would be stopping to look for a bowl of chicken Pho.
I got re-Californicated for work in 2004, but before then I never got the chance to re-tour this old area if I could even find it these days. Do any of these old buildings still exist? All I ever saw of Plano in recent years was fully new, gentrified.
I'm emailing my older brother who probably remembers more.
Plano was usually cut off the DFW inset or page on Tx maps at the time.

Then this one shows Plano as along the I-75:.

Back home, putting together the pieces after the fire burns on west

Latest Cal Fire report puts the Ranch Fire at nearly 300,000 acres, 59% containment.
The devastation here is heartbreaking and I'm in poor health, still coughing despite all efforts to wear masks outdoors but going back to work today at our local hospital. The entire mountainsides are blackened, the air still smells of fire, some areas are truly sobering to drive through, nothing to see but scorched earth in all directions. The fire came within 15 feet of my humble home while I was evacuated, evidence of an epic firefight is apparent, Thank You Firefighters!!! I'm just a couple miles into the Lake county side of the Mendo/Lake line, at Blue Lakes.
I wanted to further my cleanup efforts at home yesterday, however the smoke reversed back west, air was unbreathable outdoors, so I packed up the dog and went to the beach. So much for cleaning up soot.
However, what doubles my pain is having publicly posted some news about the fire, with warnings that we must do our parts to curb climate change, of course garnered some more Trumpers to block after I attempt some discourse, always met with personal, childish insults. In response to one Trumper's post asking "how has your life changed for the worse since Trump", oh, yes I laid into that idiot. Of cooooooourse he responded with meaningless Trumpian drivel. Block.

"Strikingly Ignorant" Trump Tweet blames wildfires on "bad environmental laws"

Paste excerpt L.A. times:
Trump blamed the fires on “bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amount of readily available water to be properly utilized.” He complained that water needed for firefighting is being “diverted into the Pacific Ocean.”
Apparently, per article, Trump has confused the central valley's demands for more irrigation water as related to these massive wildfires, and of course, ignores the actual cause: climate change.

Anyone else notice something in many Trump speeches?

Many segments of Trump speeches sound familiarly "patriotic" especially to his base. I believe there's a simple trick he's using, drumming up images of something all US public and private schools meted out every morning:

Trump's speeches often follow the same meter, inflections and tone...

of the pledge of allegiance.

Anyone else notice this? Or is my imagination working overtime?
