MINNEAPOLIS In casting blame on those responsible for the worst damage from the riots, local and state leaders attributed it to people not from Minnesota.
But publicly available data does not support those claims, KARE 11 Investigates has found.
I think our best estimate of what we heard are about 20 percent are Minnesotans, and 80 percent are outside, Gov. Tim Walz said during a Saturday morning press conference.
I want to be very, very clear, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said during the press conference. The people that are doing this are not Minneapolis residents. They are coming in largely from outside of this city, outside of the region, to prey on everything we have built over the last several decades.

Tulsi Gabbard drops defamation lawsuit against Hillary Clinton
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)Rep. Tulsi Gabbard dropped the defamation lawsuit she filed against Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, ending a short-lived legal battle where the congresswoman contended the former secretary of state and Democratic presidential nominee "lied about her ties to Russia" during a 2019 interview.
The lawsuit stemmed from Clinton saying that Gabbard, then a 2020 presidential candidate, was being groomed to run as a third-party candidate and was a favorite of the Russians. Clinton, in the same interview, suggested that the person she was talking about was a "Russian asset," while not naming the Hawaii Democrat.
"Plaintiffs Tulsi Gabbard and Tulsi Now, Inc. dismiss this action," Gabbard's lawyers, Dan Terzian and Janice Roven, wrote in a court filing on Wednesday. "While they remain certain of the action's legal merit, they are just as certain that this new COVID and post-COVID world require them to focus their time and attention on other priorities, including defeating Donald Trump in 2020, rather than righting the wrongs here."
Terzian and Roven did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the voluntary dismissal. A spokesperson for Gabbard also did not respond to a request for comment.

Manchester State Rep faces criticism, calls for resignation after comments against Biden accuser
Source: Manchester Link
MANCHESTER, N.H. State Representative Richard Komi (D-Manchester) is facing criticism after a tweet he made on Friday disputing sexual assault claims made by Tara Reade, a former staffer of former U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.
In the tweet, Komi disputed Reades claim that Biden inserted his fingers into her vagina, saying that would not be possible without cooperation.
When reached for comment on Friday evening, Komi had remorse for how he shared his opinion, but not for his support of Biden.
I wish I had worded my words more appropriately. It was not intended to lessen the pain that sexual assault survivors face all their lives, he said I do not believe Joe (Biden) is the type of person who would do anything to hurt a woman.

Michael Cohen's early prison release over coronavirus concerns was rescinded: Sources
Source: ABC News
President Donald Trump's former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen will not be leaving prison to serve out the rest of his term in home confinement, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Two weeks ago, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) had notified Cohen that he would be released early from prison due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Cohen's attorney Roger Adler told ABC News at the time.
Cohen is serving a 3-year sentence at the federal prison camp in Otisville, New York, where several staff and inmates have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
He is scheduled for release in November 2021. Cohen would have been allowed to serve the remainder of his sentence from home confinement.
It appears that other prisoners at Otisville who were granted home confinement have also lost those privileges, according to the sources. The BOP has not responded to requests for comment from ABC News.

Germany bans Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and raids mosques and homes
Source: CNN
(CNN)Germany announced Thursday it has designated the Lebanese militant and political group Hezbollah a terror organization, banning all of its activities in the country and ordering raids on sites police say are linked to the group.
Police told CNN a number of properties in Berlin, Bremen and North Rhine-Westphalia were searched early on Thursday. According to the police and the German Interior Ministry, four mosques and cultural associations were raided, as well as private homes of their board members, treasurers and tax advisers.
"The associations under investigation are suspected of forming part of Hezbollah due to their financial support and propaganda for the terrorist organization," the Interior Ministry said in a statement posted on its website. It added the searches were conducted to "ensure that evidence of potential sub-organizations in Germany could not be destroyed when this ban was announced."
The move to ban Hezbollah's activities in Germany comes after a sustained campaign by the United States and Israel. Last December, the German parliament approved a motion. It has argued for Chancellor Angela Merkel's government to ban the group's activities in Germany.
