Have you ever dealt with a dirty cop?

What was your story? It seems dirty cops suckle on the government dole hoping they will not be called out for their corruption.

Why do people assume polls are biased

People act shocked when Breitbart or Fox News polls lean left of the median or when MSNBC/Bloomberg/CNN polls lean right of the median. It shows a very specious understanding of statistics. I believe all of the public polls, with maybe the exception of Breitbart, are done in good faith. Statistics is science. I think it is anti science when we start debating polls with a political bent, as Megan Kelly and others on Fox News are doing. Most polls have us on top. Some polls are less favorable. We have two weeks to go. Let's work hard to get out the vote and quit debating polls ad nauseum. It's almost analogous to stressing whether the weight scale is wrong in the bathroom.

Do you agree with the NFL expelling acquitted/exonerated players?

The EEOC says an employer should not penalize and employee or applicant if they have arrests where those arrests have not resulted in a conviction? So why is it okay for the NFL to pursue such a policy that flies in the face of equal opportunity, especially since many of the players are black? If a player has even a serious charge like domestic violence dismissed, or he is acquitted, his employer should not have a right to use that arrest against him.

Whatever you feel about drop/no drop policy or even whether a victim's consent to pressing charges matters or not in the criminal justice system, once the case is adjudicated - a private employer should not be able to discriminate on a cleared/dismissed arrest. This is exactly why we have EEO laws and the example the NFL is setting bodes poorly both for exonerated citizens and citizens who have a criminal background that does not affect their job performance, usually minorities.

I understand the Giants kicker in the news is not part of a protected class, but the purging of domestic violence arrestees without regard to disposition of the case started in the NFL with Ray Rice and disproportionately has affected African Americans.

On edit: I'm not defending domestic violence, and I believe the state must prosecute it. What I have an issue with is private employers banning employment of individuals in spite of a favorable adjudication, especially when minorities are involved.

Watching this horribly racist documentary on Hurricane Katrina on the Weather Channel

Glorifying and reenacting white men pointing shotguns at black people to stop them from stealing their cars!

Union boss: Cop was justified in shooting bat-wielding woman

An official police firing-range target proves that a cop was justified in fatally shooting a bat-wielding, emotionally disturbed woman in The Bronx, an NYPD union leader said Thursday.

Ed Mullins of the Sergeants Benevolent Association released a copy of the target, which shows five male figures — including one armed with a baseball bat.

Ed Mullins has a very good point here, and generally has been much more reasonable than his PBA counterpart Pat Lynch. Legalese aside, I think this shooting should have been avoided, but NYPD brass deserves a lot of blame for making these type of targets. If you want to train officers not to shoot the unarmed, don't train them to shoot the unarmed. It's very easy for De Blasio to Monday morning quarterback and attack the employee here and his labor union from the comfort of Gracie Mansion, but maybe Hizzoner should hold his brass accountable first, including O'Neill.

Let's talk about the Senate

There are 3 probable D pickups in the Senate:

IL
WI
IN

Of these 3, IN is the most likely to stay red, then WI, and then IL.

Then there are 3 toss up states, in no particular order.

PA
NH
NV

Since NV is blue, and assuming Kaine wins VP and a Democrat is appointed to replace him, the Democrats must win 2 of these 3 seats to take back the Senate, assuming no other flips.

After this, in no particular order these seats are competitive but lean GOP currently

FL
NC
MO
OH
AZ

Thoughts?

Ex-reporter who accused Bill Clinton of groping will attend debate: report

A former television reporter who alleged in an interview published Wednesday that Bill Clinton groped her in 1980 will reportedly attend the third and final presidential debate Wednesday night.

BuzzFeed News reported it was unclear whose guest Leslie Millwee will be at the debate as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton take to the stage at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Do you believe her? I don't.

A couple words of encouragement

Donald Trump's rhetoric is triggering and we have to deal with 3 more weeks of this unless we turn off the TV. But, after 3 weeks, Hillary Clinton will be President elect. We may or may not have control of the Senate (we only need to win a net 4 seats and their side is defending 21 seats. Even if all the competitive seats are tied as toss ups, the odds mathematically are in our favor. Scalia's dead and either Merrill Garland or a new nominee will then take his seat. We should win most if not all of the on cycle governor races too.

Does the romanticization of past GOP nominees upset you?

Just because the former GOP nominees and their families do not support the current GOP nominee (with the exception of Bob Dole I guess), that does not absolve them in any way from their positions at the time of their tenure/election, in my opinion.

Does the romanticization of past GOP nominees in this election cycle upset you?
