Allen McGrew's wife has since opened up about the Fourth of July party and what led to her husband placing a lit firework on his head.

A tragic incident occurred during a Fourth of July celebration when a man died after placing a lit firework on his head.

On Thursday, July 4th, the Dorchester County Sheriff's department responded to a distressing call at a home on Cottonwood Drive in Summerville, South Carolina.

The call was about 41-year-old Allen Ray McGrew, who had put a lit firework on his head, which then exploded.

eastern lubber, scientific name: Romalea microptera

These have a voracious appetite and can strip a plant in a matter of hours. They hatch in clutches of as many as 50 little black with yellow spot innocuous looking grasshoppers. We routinely have 10 or more of the clutches hatch each year and are continually on the hunt to spray them.

I was lucky to grab this photo as my wife ran outside to dispatch this one to bug heaven. She was clinging to my birdbath photography window. (The Lubber, not my wife)

Live Rattlesnake Mailed To FL Trucker: 'I'm Not A Gangster'

PALM COAST, FL — “I’m not a gangster. I’m a truck driver.”

That's what 60-year-old Elijah Bowles of Palm Coast recently told the Los Angeles Times after he received a live rattlesnake in the mail from a mysterious sender.

"I’m trying to figure out, do I have any enemies?" he told the newspaper.

The Godfather-esque drama began May 16 when the Florida-based trucker picked up his mail from the Twentynine Palms Post Office. As he drove away from the facility, he asked a friend who was with him to open a box sent to him.
