NASA Space Poop Challenge: Winners Announced For Solutions To Astronauts Potty Problems

Coming in at third place, Hugo Shelley, a British designer, will receive $5,000 for his concept titled "SWIMSuit—Zero Gravity Underwear" which are briefs that store the waste inside the suit using an external catheter that works along with a mechanism to compress, seal and sanitize the waste.

In second place is the "Space Poop Unification of Doctors"SPUDs) team. Based out of Houston, the team won $10,000 for conceptualizing a design which uses air pressure, thanks to something called “air-push urinary girdle,” to push out waste through an exit tube.

And the winner of the $15,000 grand prize is Thatcher Cardon, an Air Force officer and flight surgeon, for his concept titled "MACES Perineal Access & Toileting System." GOP official quits after racist Facebook post and 'death panel' uproar

Bill Akins said he resigned Tuesday night as secretary of the Pasco Republican Executive Committee because he spoke out of turn during a Saturday congressional town hall meeting by insisting the Affordable Care Act has "death panels."

"According to the loyalty oath I signed with REC, I'm not supposed to be making any statements, even if I want to do so as a private citizen, before running it past the REC and the chairman of the Republican Party," Akins said Wednesday morning.

But it wasn't his comments about Obamacare that drew national scorn on Akins. He became the subject of widespread ridicule only after the Washington Post revealed his Facebook posts contained racist and fake news stories and memes.

Pasco Republican Party chairman Randy Evans said no one with the GOP asked him to resign, but he said Wednesday it was those Facebook posts that likely contributed to his departure.

The value of American freedoms

Over four decades of scribbling, lampooning political figures, offering snarky observations on the ineptitude of government and poking fun at the self-important, bloviating big shots of society, it never occurred to me that I had anything to fear for my ramblings. It is the United States after all, where free expression, free speech and a free press are treasured freedoms, liberties I all too blithely took for granted.

Besides, I was having too much fun.

A few weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks while working as a columnist for the Tampa Tribune, I had scratched out a rather critical piece about President George W. Bush. I don't remember the topics. There was so much material.

As I settled into my desk, a few feet away sat an intern, Birusk Tugan. He was a refugee, a Turkish Kurd, who as a journalist in Istanbul had been forced to flee his homeland.

Psychiatrist: Calling Donald Trump Mentally Ill Is An Insult To The Mentally Ill

A leading psychiatrist is pushing back after a group of industry professionals wrote a letter to The New York Times saying Donald Trump suffers from “grave emotional instability” that “makes him incapable of serving safely as president.”

He may be a world-class narcissist, but this doesn’t make him mentally ill, because he does not suffer from the distress and impairment required to diagnose mental disorder,” he wrote.

He added:

“Mr. Trump causes severe distress rather than experiencing it and has been richly rewarded, rather than punished, for his grandiosity, self-absorption and lack of empathy. It is a stigmatizing insult to the mentally ill (who are mostly well behaved and well meaning) to be lumped with Mr. Trump (who is neither).”

Freshman Republican congressman reveals bill to abolish the EPA

The bill was introduced into the House on Feb. 3, but the text was not available until recently. It contains little more than an intention and a deadline:

To terminate the Environmental Protection Agency.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

The Environmental Protection Agency shall terminate on December 31, 2018.

On January 15, then-Vice President-elect Mike Pence went on Fox News

and was asked by Chris Wallace whether there had been communication between the Trump campaign and Russian officials before the election.

“Of course not,” Pence replied. “Chris, this is all a distraction and it’s all part of a narrative to delegitimize the election and question the legitimacy of this presidency. The American people see right through it.”

Word of the Day: Kremflynn

krem•flihn (proper noun)

The historic center of Russian government, located until Monday in Washington, D.C., and now probably in Alexandria or some fucking place.

Ex. "Mr. Trump, are you running the show for Russia or what?"

"Of course not. I'm just a Potemkin Village. You want the Kremflynn. Right down the hall."
