(CNN) — Hillary Clinton's campaign is taking the reins of the Democratic National Committee, installing a new top official on Thursday to oversee the party's day-to-day operations through the general election.

Brandon Davis, national political director for the Service Employees International Union, will become the general election chief of staff for the Democratic Party. His selection formalizes the coordination of the Clinton campaign and the committee, a stark contrast to Donald Trump who is currently at odds with his party.

Robby Mook, the Clinton campaign manager, arrived Thursday morning at Democratic headquarters on Capitol Hill to introduce Davis to the party's staff.

"We have a lot of work to do over the next five months to make sure that Donald Trump does not become president," Mook said as he introduced Davis, according to a person in the room. "With so much at stake in this election, we could not ask for a better partner in that mission than the team here."

Wasserman Schultz welcomed Mook and Davis to party headquarters on Thursday morning. While she will remain in her position as the party's chairwoman, at least through the convention next month in Philadelphia, her role diminishes with the Clinton campaign's takeover of the committee.

President Barack Obama is champing at the bit to counter presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump on the campaign trail and endorse Democrat Hillary Clinton, The New York Times reported Monday.

Anonymous White House aides told the Times that Obama was "particularly enthusiastic" about the chance to go after Trump.

“He has indicated he wants to spend a lot of time on the campaign trail, so when it’s time to do that, we’ll go out guns ablazing,” Jennifer Psaki, Obama’s communications director, told the Times.

The paper reported that Obama's endorsement of Clinton could come as early as this week, depending on how the former secretary of state performs in Tuesday's primary contests. Aides told the publication that the White House already was having "active conversations" with Clinton's campaign about how best to use Obama on the trail.

Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton’s communications director, told the newspaper that it was "hard to imagine a more convincing advocate for her."

Oh boy, oh boy, did you see Hillary Clinton’s “foreign policy” speech about how Donald Trump is an excitable, know-nothing man-child, whereas she is a mature adult human being? It was great! Hillary was in San Diego preparing for the California Primary, and decided to spend a few minutes saying a few words about the man the Republicans have chosen to be their standard-bearer in November.

Anyway, Hillary spent her speech comparing her vision for an America that’s already strong, that carries out a “smart and principled foreign policy,” and which under her leadership will grow stronger, versus an America that sucks dick, led by a walking, ginger-coiffed meth dildo who is a pussy.

Hillary describes Hillary:

As Secretary of State, Senator and First Lady, I had the honor of representing America abroad and helping shape our foreign policy at home. As a candidate for President, there’s nothing I take more seriously than our national security. I’ve offered clear strategies for how to defeat ISIS, strengthen our alliances, and make sure Iran never gets a nuclear weapon. And I’m going to keep America’s security at the heart of my campaign.

Because as you know so well, Americans aren’t just electing a president in November, we’re choosing our next commander in chief, the person we count on to decide questions of war and peace, life and death.

Hillary describes Donald Trump:

Like many across our country and around the world, I believe the person the Republicans have nominated for President cannot do the job.

Donald Trump’s ideas aren’t just different – they are dangerously incoherent. They’re not even really ideas – just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies.

He is not just unprepared – he is temperamentally unfit to hold an office that requires knowledge, stability and immense responsibility.

This is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes – because it’s not hard to imagine Donald Trump leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin.

And that was just the first official time Hillary called Trump a total pussy during her speech. She is going to have so much fun running against him!

Hillz then listed a whole bunch of shit Trump has said — for instance, that he thinks more countries should have nukes (!), that it would be hunky dory if he “treated America like one of his casinos” and let us default on our debt (!!), and that he would murder the families of terrorists (!!!).

But she was just getting started:

He says he doesn’t have to listen to our generals or our admirals, our ambassadors and other high officials, because he has –- quote –- “a very good brain.”

He also said, “I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me.” You know what? I don’t believe him.


Is anybody out there doing ROFLMAO giggles yet? Because we sure are! And Hillary’s audience sure was!

Unlike him, I have some experience with the tough calls and the hard work of statecraft. I wrestled with the Chinese over a climate deal in Copenhagen, brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, negotiated the reduction of nuclear weapons with Russia, twisted arms to bring the world together in global sanctions against Iran, and stood up for the rights of women, religious minorities and LGBT people around the world.

And … I have sat in the Situation Room and advised the President on some of the toughest choices he faced.

WHEREAS DONALD TRUMP:

He says he has foreign policy experience because he ran the Miss Universe pageant in Russia.

The question is: Assuming you’re president and you’re dealing with a Congress that looks like the one we have today…

Let me just comment on that. If I am elected president, the odds of the Senate remaining Republican would be minimal. You’d have very large turnout helping Democrats up and down the line.

But you’d still likely face Paul Ryan as your negotiating partner. And I’m trying to figure out how you get something like public-college-for-all passed with Paul Ryan as your counterpart. Given that you just said today that they won’t play ball.

To answer that question successfully requires us to think outside of a zero-sum game. You’re saying to me, and it’s a fair question: “Bernie, if you sit down with Paul Ryan and say, ‘Paul, I want a tax on Wall Street speculation to make public colleges and universities tuition-free and to lower student debt,’ the likelihood is that Paul won’t say, ‘Hey, Bernie, why didn’t I think of that? Fantastic idea! Let’s go forward together.'” So what’s the strategy? The strategy – which is unprecedented, and this is where we’re talking about thinking outside the box – is to have a president who actually, vigorously goes around the country and rallies the American people, who are in favor of this idea. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is incompetent at running the DNC. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is in the pocket of payday lenders. In short, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is the fucking worst.

Except for maybe her primary opponent:

Much of Canova’s campaign literature emphasizes his opposition to the nuclear agreement with Iran, a position shared by many in the district’s large and active Jewish population. Wasserman Schultz backed the deal.

“She’s Jewish; I’m not. But I’ve had a Jewish stepdad for 40 years, and I was a volunteer on a kibbutz. .?.?. And she voted for the Iran agreement,” he said. “Either she got duped by [Obama deputy national security adviser] Ben Rhodes or she was in on it.”
In other words, against Wasserman-Schultz Bernie Sanders is backing a guy who attacks her from the right on one of the most consequential foreign policy issues of the day. I have no love whatsoever for Wasserman-Schultz but this almost makes me want to donate to her campaign. Fucking brilliant.

Of course this isn't really about Canova; it's about Sanders' grudge against Wasserman-Schultz. It isn't about 'principle' any more than his jihad against Barney Frank is; it's about payback. But what's also at work here is his lack of interest in foreign policy--something he might want to get over if he's going to keep endorsing people for Federal office.

Friends may have noticed that I have become very cranky of late on the subject of voting for Hillary Clinton in the general election. Put into simple terms: If you are a ‪#?NeverHillary‬ voter -- or a Trump voter, which in the end is the same thing -- just unfriend me now. You are not a friend of mine.

I have spent the past 14 years trying to warn the public about the proto-fascist threat coming down the road at us through the auspices of the increasingly radicalized conservative movement and its official organ, the Republican Party. I've even published two books describing this threat -- five and six years before it actually emerged.

During that time, I've received fair amounts of praise from my fellow progressives for the work I've done exposing these trends, and lots of pats on the head. But what I've noticed is that many progressives are only interested in using this information as a hammer for bashing conservatives with, rather than taking seriously the underlying issues it exposes, particularly the progressive abandonment of rural areas. And I know that, when I'm not around, a lot of these progressives have been happy to characterize me as an alarmist.

Well, now those trends have all come home to roost, and that "alarmism" has proven precisely accurate. The warnings have come true in no small part not just because conservatives drove their bus over the cliff, but because many progressives -- especially those in institutional progressive organizations -- did not take them seriously either, and took few steps to address the underlying dynamic. And this is especially true of the leftist ideologues who seem to think that all you have to do is magically elect a progressive president and everything will be better, because their failures to keep the ball rolling in between presidential elections led to the rise of the Tea Party and the enshrinement of the radicalization of the American right.

And now these same, clueless progressives are insisting that -- even with the steam train of extremist right-wing populism, the historical foundation of all fascist movements, heading straight towards them in the form of the Trump candidacy -- their Purity of Essence will keep them from ever voting for the last remaining politician capable of keeping him from attaining the presidency.

Look, I support the Sanders campaign's desire to take their movement into the convention, since I support most components of their agenda (though not all). I think progressives need to push the Clinton camp leftward -- not just now, but after the election too. You'll not hear me disparage the Sanders campaign and its doggedness.

But if you can't understand that a Donald Trump presidency would be an extinction-level event for American democracy -- and especially if you are so fanatically blinkered that you think that Clinton and Trump are actually comparable or similar -- then you have neither paid any attention to the matters that I've spent the past 14 years focused on, and/or you simply have no respect for it. You are, on a very deep level, no friend of mine.

So you can just go hit that "Unfriend" button now. Because if you don't, I will get around to it eventually.
