BBC host Aaron Heslehurst advised Americans this week that they would have to “break” or “dismantle” the National Rifle Association (NRA) if they wanted the mass shootings in the United States to stop.

On Wednesday’s Morning Business Report, BBC presenter Adnan Nawaz pointed out that journalists still did not have all of the details about the shooting in San Bernardino.

“There have been more mass shootings in the United States this year than there have been days this year,” Nawaz noted. “We’re at about 330-odd days with 350+ mass shootings. And it’s becoming far too common as far as almost any sensible person including President Obama is concerned.”

While the fallout continues from yesterday’s shooting in San Bernardino that left at least 14 dead — the 355th mass shooting of the year — it was hard not to notice a dramatic turning point in the conversation around mass shooting yesterday. The sense in the past is that we in the media — social, Internet, and mainstream — shouldn’t be quick to politicize these tragic deaths, but the tide has begun to turn. We’re beginning to fight against this idea that we shouldn’t politicize something that can only be fixed through politics.

Now that Ted Cruz is gaining in the polls by drawing growing support from “very conservative” voters, the guy who has touted endorsements from anti-abortion extremists and asserted that the “overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats" is trying to "soften" his image, reports Niall Stanage

A seemingly angry George Zimmerman took to Twitter today to send out nude photos and the phone number of a woman he claims is his now ex-girlfriend. He said, “She cheated on me with a dirty Muslim.” He also provided her name and phone number.

Not only was he suspended from Twitter for sending out the photos, Jenny Kutner at Mic.com makes the case that he seems to have violated Florida law.

5: When I said I am glad I live overseas in a country that has gun control: "since ur"home" is so bad, renounce ur citizenship and never be considered an american again."

6: I mooch, and don't pay taxes living overseas. When i said I make less than 86K overseas and am American tax exempt but not Malaysian tax exempt, I was told: " Then if u fund another country's revenue, become thier citizen and stop tanking mine."

Zuckerberg also took the opportunity to announce the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a nonprofit that will look "to join people across the world to advance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation. Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities."

Zuckerberg had already signed a pledge to The Giving Pledge, a promise signed by wealthy individuals to donate most of their fortune. He said that the couple would be donating 99% of their Facebook shares to the cause, currently worth around $45 billion.

The happy couple also released a video about the excitement for the baby and why they started the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs was on lockdown earlier today after threats were received:

Colorado Springs police are looking for a "suspicious person" Monday afternoon at Memorial Hospital after he allegedly made threats to shoot one of the wounded victims from Friday's Planned Parenthood shooting, according to police.

Heavy police activity was spotted in the area around the hospital and now police believe they have their suspect.

It’s frightening the new suspect not only made threats to one of the surviving victims, but was located near the hospital. Hats off the the Colorado Springs police for acting quickly. There is no word on who received the threats and what the motive might’ve been for another shooting.

GOP Senator Calls Veteran’s Care ‘Entitlement’ We ‘Can’t Afford’

The next time any Republican accuses President Obama or the Democrats of not supporting our veterans, please point them in the direction of Republican senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama who, along with only two other Senators – both Republican – voted against the bi-partisan veterans bill which aimed to ease the healthcare delays for veterans by giving them more access to private care and allowing the Department of Veterans Affairs the funds to open more clinics and hire more medical staff. It passed the House of Representatives unanimously.

But Sessions wasn’t feeling that bi-partisan “support the troops” facade that the GOP loves to paint:

“I feel strongly we’ve got to do the right thing for our veterans. But I don’t think we should create a blank check, an unlimited entitlement program, now.”

This, coming from the party who charged America 24 billion dollars for an immigrant to read Green Eggs and Ham on the Senate floor.
