And this is a real treat, if you have never heard Adam Carroll before it is my honor to introduce him to you. His fingers are full of lightning and he tells a story in a way that never seems strained or false.

This was produced By Todd Rundgren and is not indicative of Grand Funk's earlier records

In my 1st car I kept a shoe box full of 8track tapes (Part2)

Some came and went as they inevitably destroyed themselves the way 8tracks always did.

A few others I would always replace as soon as I had the pocket change to buy another copy.

This series talks about the permanent records (hehe)

In the mid to late 70s Southern rock was a pretty popular genre all over America. I heard that the Allman Brothers were huge in NY and San Francisco for instance.

But Southern/Country Rock was the main rock genre where I came up.

We listened to all of it, not just big nationally known bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd , 38 Special or the Allmans.

My favorite Southern Rock band was on the next rung down the ladder as far as popularity went but had originality and musicianship by the truck load.

The Marshall Tucker Band.

Now the MTB 8tracks I had in my car were kind of a greatest hits records, and at least once it was the actual " Greatest Hits By The Marshall Tucker Band" the others were truck stop bargain bin "Compilations" I'd pickup for $2.98 or so on the road.

The track list varied a little bit, but the big tunes were always on them - Take the Highway, Heard it in A love Song etc.

But why highlight songs we all know already?

Going to see Marcus King at the Pageant tomorrow night

My wife bought the tickets before I even knew they were coming. She told me last week we had seats.

YAY!

I have a Wife who knows which guitar players kick ass...

In my 1st car I kept a shoe box full of 8track tapes (Part 1 of an occasional series)

It held more than you may believe since I wear 13EE shoes.

Some came and went as they inevitably destroyed themselves the way 8tracks always did.

Others, a few others, were always replaced as soon as I had the pocket change to buy another copy.

The most embarrassing selection by 2019 standards was probably Styx "The Grand Illusion" which was one of my top 5 albums back in the day.

OK, I get that Styx has not aged well, but any rock fan (prior to 1982 or so anyway) knew and loved this album.

My favorite 3 songs, in no particular order

Kansas City Revokes naming Martin Luther King Blvd

After invading a black church in a protest.

Turns out that white folks in Missouri are super concerned with following procedures.

I stay depressed about the shit-headedness of (to paraphrase Slim) folks who look like me, talk like me but are just not quite me.

What a fucking joke. I know some GOP pricks are pointing at this outcome as a counter balance to losing VA and KY.

AS IF THIS IS A VERIFICATION SHOWING THAT AMERICA AGREES WITH THEM. But it's for sure not racist...

fuck Missouri

Relax, make a cup of tea

Then lay down a classic track that still crushes it 47 years later
