Tommy has a name recognition problem in the USA

Mainly the issue is most folks don't recognize his name.

The flip side of that issue is that the people who DO know Tommy Cochrane only remember "Life is a Highway" or perhaps "Lunatic Fringe" from his days fronting Red Ryder.

Those songs aren't even representative of his talent, they just happen to have been played in the States.

Do you ever wonder how it feels to love an addict and struggle to save them, while dealing with a mix of love hatred compassion and sexual desire?

How do you suppose that would color your emotions as you watch your lover collapse?

Well...
Tommy has a story for you

Reaching Back to my 8 track days

This album - Oh my goodness.

I thought it was a Greatest Hits Record for a minute there in the 70s. Bob did some god work after this but in general there was one or two good tunes per album afre this on - Except "Infidel" which is also fantastic for three quarters of the album.

Sorry, got distracted. "Blood on the Tracks" is songwriting perfection IMHO.

I know that there are folks I respect that HATE Dylan (Hi Unblock! ) or who thought he had peaked as an artist in the 60s (Hi Argyl! ) but I believe they are wrong.

Now would usually be when I prove my point with 2 or three perfect choices from the record.

Maybe "Shelter From the Storm" "Your Gonna Make me Lonesome When You go" Or "Idiot Wind"

BUT NO - I cannot because - Youtube keeps this Album behind a PAYWALL. You have to pay to listen to this record - I decline. You assholes already make me watch fucking Trump Commercials and other nonesense.

So pissed off

I lived in Japan for 10 years

Well, more accurately I was stationed in Japan for 10 years. That is more like living in a small American Town in the middle of Japan

Anyway, this time of year through the New Year's week there are specials on TV and performances in public areas for the holidays many featuring the Samisen, a 3 string Banjo. It is an incredibly bad ass instrument.

Here is a traditional arrangement

And here are some players taking on the Ventures' Surf Rock

I had to change my avatar back to the Cardinal logo

Because even though it's 105 days 11 hours and 37 minutes until opening day, the Redbirds are already having a better season than the Blues.

Go Cards.

Maybe next year Blues. AGAIN

Another Johnny Cash Show performance

The intro is amazing, and even though I'm not super fond of happy hippie tunes this is still cool shit

The Johnny Cash Show only lasted 58 episodes, between 1969 to 1971

But it is a gold mine of guest performances.

Of course the old school country artists were coming by - Merle haggard Buck Owens and Chet Atkins were familiar faces for country fans in those years and came on the show multiple times.

But Johnny was a Rocker and a rebel in his day and a badass throughout his life.

He didn't shy away from loud hippie looking rockers or performers that most Nashville venues would never consider on his show

Let me play guess the Headline!!!

How about "Democratic Hopeful consults Party Leadership"

Or maybe "Democrat contemplates run for President in 2020. Speaks with representatives of the Party's base."

Ok, let's see how I did compared to the "Professionals"

"Beto O'Rourke sounding out prominent black Democrats as he ponders presidential bid"
