Which 5 whiskeys, $100 or less would you choose if you couldn't have any others until next election?

Here's Mine:

Whiskey- Michter's American, $40-48

Bourbon - Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style, $55-65

Rye - Dad's Hat Bottled In Bond - $60-90 (limited distribution means big price swings, worth $60, iffy at $80, a no at $90)

Scotch - Glendronach 12 -$85-92 (It's Highland Scotch for me baby. It doesn't taste like ashtrays and rubber)

Daily sipper any style - Wild Turkey Rare Breed - $57

Honorable mentions/Cheap whiskey that tastes great

Wild Turkey 101, $20-25 the classic well rounded bourbon. I always have it, and at 20 bucks if a guest wants it with coke, I won't feel so resentful

Old Forester Straight Rye - $25-30. Baking spice - but not cinnamon, more of a pumpernickel bread spice, makes the best Old Fashioned ever.

Canadian Club 100% Rye $12. Doesn't taste like American ryes, at all. Very Sweet, no bite - maple syrup and vanilla, this is the best whiskey for a ginger ale highball ever. Freaking twelve bucks a fifth

I'm closing in on posting every song from Heart worn Highways.

Except for the David Allen Coe songs. Fuck him.

Here's a great song from Richard Dobson

The Blasters Thread. No issues with hit songs here

In the late 70s to the early 80s Rockabilly made a brief commercial comeback.

Queen and the Stray Cats made most of the money and got the most MTV airtime in that revival, and that's an issue.

Look, as much as I love both bands, they weren't the shining jewels of that rockabilly rebirth. At all...

Well, who were then? Easy question. The Blasters.

They were everything the other bands never quite were. The Blasters were in fact everything any old school Rocker would love.

Unfortunately they never got the big payday, and are relatively unknown still.

No commentary needed, just gonna list some 2and a half minute singles

Except in the case of this song... This is one of the darkest (no pun meant) songs ever played in this genre

Duane Allman thread. No Allman Brothers Band edition

Back when Duane was the house guitarist at Famous Studios in Mussel Shoals Alabama, he was known to pick a song or 2
Played a few with Wilson Picket

He did a few songs with Aretha too

Everyone knows "Layla" because AOR FM radio is lazy and uninteresting, so they beat that song to death (STILL!)
To me, this is the song that high lights the interplay of Eric and Duane's guitars best

Ok, take a pee break, pour a cup of coffee and get comfortable. I rarely ever post a song over 10 minutes, but I have to do just that this time.
Bold statement follows:
For pure uncut electric blues rock, this is the best duet ever recorded.

I said what I said

J. Geils Thread. Obviously I won't post "Angel Is A Centerfold"

Won't post "Love Stinks" either, but 1st?

I guess we need to address the most common misunderstanding - Namely, "What the hell is The J. Geils Band?"
Well, Peter Wolf is the singer, Magic Dick is the harmonica player and they were the heart of the enterprise

But the anchor was J. Geils the guitarist & he built the band around himself and Magic Dick after they had a bit of minor success and scored a record deal

Sounded a bit like this

J Geils was a rather eclectic player BTW

But the group's claim to fame was their boozy party jams & smoking hot live show
