What is Hillary doing to earn the votes of Bernie supporters?

She doesn't seem to be offering anything material.

Janet Biehl reports on her trip to Syrian Kurdistan

Amidst the Syrian civil war and on the front lines of the fight against ISIS, the Kurdish people in northern Syria are building a face-to-face democratic, gender-equal, and ecological revolution from the ground up. Inspired in part by the ideas of longtime Burlington resident Murray Bookchin, the Kurdish people have organized an autonomous territory the size of Connecticut named Rojava, based on these principles. However, the Kurdish movement in northern Syria and in southeastern Turkey is facing extreme repression by the authoritarian government of Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey.

Burlington resident Janet Biehl has visited Rojava twice on solidarity delegations, most recently in October, and will be discussing the promises and challenges the revolution is facing, as well as opportunities for solidarity in the US. She is the author of several books on social ecology, including Ecology or Catastrophe: The Life of Murray Bookchin (2015). Her books The Murray Bookchin Reader (1997) and The Politics of Social Ecology: Libertarian Municipalism (1998) date from her 19-year collaboration with Bookchin. She has recently translated (from German into English) several books on the Kurdish connection, including Democratic Autonomy in North Kurdistan (2013) and Revolution in Rojava (Pluto Press, forthcoming).

Sponsored by Toward Freedom, Black Rose/ Rosa Negra Burlington, and the Fannie Lou Hamer branch of LeftRoots.

Democrats practice voter suppression too. Requiring 6 month advance registration to vote?

Democratic Party is like some exclusive club.

6 months? Nuts.

Clinton supporters online spreading images of Bernie Sanders head photoshopped on Virgin Mary

Hillary Clinton supporters on the internet are spreading images of religious iconography where Bernie Sanders head is cut and pasted onto an image of the Virgin Mary.

I'm not clear what the point of it is supposed to be but it's bound to be offensive to a large group of people. Really boorish behavior if you ask me. This is what it looks like:

Clintonites have started repeating these images in their avatars and signature lines on some internet web forums and discussion boards.

MSNBC's Joy Ann Reid Horrified By Sanders Supporters Throwing Dollar Bills At Hillary

JOY ANN REID: Bernie Sanders supporters throwing dollar bills at the motorcade of Hillary Clinton as she was going to the George Clooney fund-raiser. We're going to roll that video in a second. Just the idea of that, and people went on twitter afterwards. You can see the video there. People throwing dollar bills as if in a strip club.

This coming on the heels of a Bernie Sanders surrogate having to apologize for using the term "democratic [corporate] whores" at the Washington Square Park rally.

That visual there, of throwing dollar bills at a woman as she's going by in her motorcade, has the Democratic race gone over the edge?

Brownsville Public Housing Press Conference | Bernie Sanders

Sanders Details Affordable Housing Plan

NEW YORK - U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders addressed the affordable housing crisis in New York and across the nation Sunday after he toured the New York City Housing Authority’s Howard Houses in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and New York City Council Members Jumaane Williams of Brooklyn and Ritchie Torres of the Bronx accompanied Sanders on a walking tour of the low-income public housing buildings.

“This is the wealthiest country in the history of the world. People should not be forced to live in dilapidated housing,” Sanders said afterward.

Public housing residents in New York are forced to live with leaky roofs, mold, unreliable heating systems, broken elevators and vermin. The authority provides housing for some 400,000 New Yorkers, but there is a $17 billion backlog in unmet capital needs.

Sanders released a plan to address the crisis of affordable housing in America and create millions of good-paying jobs. As president, Sanders would expand the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund – which was created by legislation he authored in 2001 – to repair public housing, increase funding for housing vouchers and make it easier to refinance mortgages.

From the time Sanders was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont, in 1981, he has made affordable housing a top priority. Then-Mayor Sanders created the first municipally-funded housing trust in the nation, which continues to create home ownership opportunities for families who had been shut out of the market.

Sanders stopped in Brownsville after he attended a church service at the First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem and before a Sunday afternoon rally at Prospect Park in Brooklyn in advance of Tuesday’s Democratic Party presidential primary.
