About Me

Let me get this out of the way first: I am a Canadian. Half Canadienne, Half Norwegian. I am a woman. I endeavor to keep my posts objective. My slant is definitely towards a democracy that works on a meritocracy that is based, ideally, on a starting point of a level playing ground and a fair kick at the can, no matter your passion, so long as it embodies fairness and justice to all the peoples of the earth, and of course, to mother earth herself. Thank you for helping me learn more through the dialogue here on DU.

Should all who endorse Hillary demand a pardon for Chelsea Manning?

Watching Democracy Now! this morning and it was suggested that Hillary's 'no big deal' email mess exposes a double standard in very broad principle with the crack down on whistle blowers.

I'm not clear on how this would be justified, but ideas out there?
Would be killer if it could be!

Negative ads - how effective are they?

We all know how much money repubs threw at negative ads against Trump in the primaries. They didn't seem to work.
I don't know how much Hillary has spent on the Trump-is-a-misogynist ads, but they clearly aren't helping her as we watch he margin slip away.
This morning, I hear from Clinton that people should beware of supporting Sanders because no negative ads have been slung at him yet.

Is this a valid argument anymore?

Oregon - Gillian county - what's going on?

I'm looking at the Guardian site, and it has Bernie winning with 100% in, but Clinton has more votes - so what's up there? Except for that one district, looks like a clean sweep for Bernie!!!

Yay Bernie! Got the double digits going on in Oregon!

still another 7% to report but 56/44 is okay - and maybe another district sweep?!

Why isn't msbc doing more to promote Gary Johnson if they want the dems to win?

Surely some indies would split away from Trump. They've been such a good propaganda machine. Why aren't they promoting a 3rd party Repub spoiler?

edit - Johnson, not Anderson - and then as soon as I wrote this, there's Lawrence osomething highlighting Johnson. Yay.

Eerie silence on MSM re. Nevada this morning

Trump, trump and more trump as msnbc drones on in the background. Was hoping to catch some coverage. Any body got any links?

I am seriously flabberghastted at the willful ignorance of some

It's like a twisted fairytale. The ugly witch mean step mother tells you not to go out into the woods or a wolf may eat you. But she's totally unreliable. And so you snuggle up by the fire with your favorite auntie with the 3 fingers on one hand. She tells you about the wolf, but her stories are so good, and she smells like fresh cedar boughs and milk. She even has a pretty wolf fur hat!

Lots of good democratic aunties have been valiantly trying to tell you about the wolf. Some have jumped up and down, but all you see is the ugly step mother, believing they are both just joking in order to keep you from getting your jumper dirty in the big bad woods.

May 10 Quinnipiac Swing State Polls - Go Bernie!

May 10, 2016 - Clinton-Trump Close In Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll Finds Quinnipiac University

--- FLORIDA: Clinton 43 - Trump 42; Sanders 44 - Trump 42
OHIO: Clinton 39 - Trump 43; Sanders 43 - Trump 41
PENNSYLVANIA: Clinton 43 - Trump 42; Sanders 47 - Trump 41

In a race marked by wide gender, age and racial gaps, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are running neck and neck in the key presidential Swing States of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, but Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont runs stronger against the likely Republican nominee, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released today.

Clinton and Trump both have negative favorability ratings among voters in each state, compared to Sanders' split score, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds. The Swing State Poll focuses on Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania because since 1960 no candidate has won the presidential race without taking at least two of these three states.
