Nuke fears grow over Trump

Nuclear security experts are nervous about the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency.

Former officials from both Republican and Democratic administrations are expressing concern over what they describe as Trump’s cavalier rhetoric about using nuclear weapons and potentially allowing them to be obtained by U.S. allies.

“This is the most dangerous thing that he has said, among many dangerous and stupid things,” said Mark Fitzpatrick, 26-year veteran of the State Department who worked on nonproliferation issues under former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. The narrative is damaging to Trump because it plays right into the hands of Hillary Clinton and her supporters, who say that Trump’s inexperienced hand makes him too dangerous a liability for the White House.

I'm a pro-life Christian. Here's why I'm voting for Hillary Clinton.

I’m pro-life.

Or, put another way, as a Christian, I believe the sacred personhood of an individual begins before birth and continues throughout life, and I believe that sacred personhood is worth protecting, whether it’s tucked inside a womb, waiting on death row, fleeing Syria in search of a home, or playing beneath the shadow of an American drone.

As a frequent blogger and commentator and the author of several books, I’ve written in the past about feeling caught between the pro-life and pro-choice camps. Still, I’ve never used my platform to endorse a presidential candidate.

But as so many others have said, this year is different. Knowing many of my pro-life friends feel torn between voting for an unpopular but highly qualified pro-choice candidate in Hillary Clinton and an incompetent narcissist who poses a unique threat to our American democracy in Donald Trump, I’d like to make a proposal:

You should vote for Hillary Clinton.

And I’d like to suggest that voting for a pro-choice candidate in this election, or any election, need not overburden your conscience.

Here’s why.

The Democratic Base is strong, and ready to fight.

And we are damn tired of passive racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.

This is not about political correctness. It's about plain old correctness and doing what is right.

This is not about people being sensitive.

It's about people who are sick and tired of people who are labeled as sensitive when they are just trying to do the right thing.

I'm tired of the excuses. I'm tired of the insults.

Doing the right thing is always harder than doing the easy thing. But it's time to do the right thing. And that means to stand up to the jerks who want to keep things status quo.

No more hiding behind supposed political correctness. When you see racism, call it out. When you see sexism, call it out. When you see homophobia, call it out.

There is nothing to debate anymore. It's just flat out wrong. Stop letting folks make excuses, and start calling it out for the bigotry that it is.

Meet the Republican Women Flocking to Hillary Clinton

Meghan Milloy grew up in southern Mississippi, in one of the deepest-red corners of a reliably Republican state. In high school, she founded the Teenage Republicans club and campaigned for George W. Bush in New Hampshire. In college, she interned in the Bush White House. Today, she works at a right-leaning nonprofit in Washington, D.C. during the day, but for the last several months in her spare time, she works toward a new goal: helping to elect Hillary Clinton as president.

"We just aired our concerns and said, 'Let’s do this.' And we're just all in. It was just a very encouraging experience for so many of us to be on the same page."

This week, a trio of high-profile Republican women offered their full-throated support to Clinton amid the continuing fallout from Donald Trump's criticism of a Gold Star mom. On Monday, Sally Bradshaw, a top adviser to Jeb Bush, confirmed she formally switched her party affiliation from Republican to independent. The party, Bradshaw told CNN, is "at a crossroads and have nominated a total narcissist — a misogynist — a bigot."
