The Pentagon is holding a press conference

I heard a voice in my head saying it hopes they're announcing a coup.
All the generals who have warned us--

I've never recommended it to anyone who hasn't thanked me.

Two things about COVID-19

1. This is a national security risk. Look at how poorly we're handling this. What do you think our enemies are thinking right now about our vulnerability?
2. I wonder if DU will start a forum for COVID-19.

OK, back to work in my home office. A little lonely, but hanging in here.

He had me at Seamus Heaney

I pulled this up to review the quote Joe used in his speech last night--which, by the way, did not involve teleprompters--and I didn't notice him looking at notes, did you?
He said he often thinks of it and he used it before in a speech in Northern Ireland.
We used a Seamus Heaney poem in our wedding, so I have a little soft spot.

It's been like a vision test

You know how it is? They say, "One? or two?" And they both look similar? Over and over?
And then suddenly it's clear.

Now we have a lot of work to do. Nice to have more energy from not being pulled in many directions.

Processing...still processing...and feeling good!

My optimism continues to grow as I watch the final Super Tuesday results continue to show support for Joe.
I jumped from candidate to candidate from the beginning of this cycle, thinking I would never get comfortable--and now it feels just right.

I am seeing a very happy ending, with just enough challenges to let us know it is real.

1. Priority: Do all possible to ensure that we actually have a real election in November. Between voter suppression, technical breaches, and psych ops--no complacency allowed.
2. Priority: GOTV. I made myself sick by glancing at how many Republicans bothered to vote Tuesday even when they didn't even have to.
3. Priority, which seems to be agreed upon by so many: Put the raging wildfire out by dislodging current White House resident.
4. Win House and Senate at the same time.
5. Watch the Obamas dancing at the inaugural ball.
6. Begin the controlled burn of corruption and injustice once everyone gets seated.
7. Replant integrity, dignity, and democracy itself. With liberty and justice for all! Really--for ALL this time!
8. Seeing Elizabeth in McConnell's seat, wielding the power she needs to make her plans materialize.
9. Seeing a woman serving as VP. Curious about who, and trusting Joe to make a wise decision.

Let the healing begin.

I'd love to believe this can happen, but don't want to be naive--
3. Priority, agreed upon by Bernie and his followers: Put the raging wildfire out by uniting to dislodge current White House resident.

I don't know where it originates--in a different hemisphere? younger people who never saw what democracy kind of looked like?--but the urgency of that seems to be so obscured among his followers. So, still pondering that one.

It's fun to get hearts!

Thank you, whoever you are! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I shouldn't have been surprised--EVs and government facilities

I was talking to someone last night who works for the U.S.government at a huge center with thousands of employees. I think the building might be LEED certified. It was built about 12+/- years ago. I asked where the chargers are for employees with electric vehicles. There are NONE.

I remember a time of prominent sustainability experts working on the "Green White House" in the late 80s/early 90s. I looked this up and realized it is, of course, dead in the water thanks to you-know-who. Why am I surprised? Not only are they not encouraging the use of evs for employees, opportunities for cost savings and policy having anything to do with climate change are over, too.

Russia and Ukraine

I am not seeing any interest yet at DU about this, but for anyone else who is noticing it, we are not alone. An understory in the transcript and all of the recent engagement with Zelenskiy is a genuine change. Based on what I'd followed during the Mueller investigation, I'd assumed that Zelenskiy is a friend of the Russian Federation. But everything I read that he said did not conform to that.

Twitter has people analyzing it.

A good one: Michael MacKay

The so-called 'transcript' indicates that Volodymyr Zelenskyy isn't a 'Servant of the People' (as his party name says).

Zelenskyy is an eager participant in corrupt schemes pushed by Putin-Trump.

Coupled with his surrender-to-Russia moves lately, I think Zelenskyy is finished.

Basic question about Ukraine and Russian Federation: What does Putin think?

I did a good job of keeping up during the days of the Mueller investigation, but find myself stumped by a basic thing as I read the transcript this morning.

ZELENSKIY is talking about how much he wishes Germany and France would do a better job of enforcing sanctions against the Russian Federation.

TRUMP is talking about how very helpful the US has been to Ukraine.

However, one of the driving forces behind the Trump Tower meeting and so many other things has been Trump's desire NOT to enforce sanctions against RF. (For fascinating background on all of that, I cannot over-recommend Bill Browder, btw.)

So in addition to everything else that is going on within the U.S., it appears to me that DT is also trying to play both Ukraine and RT. With a quick review of the Google, I'm finding no indication that Putin and Zelenskiy are actually friends.
