Trump is snubbing a bunch of Democrats who helped get the trade agreement passed — including Nancy Pelosi.
Donald Trump plans to host a bill signing ceremony on Wednesday for the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement, the renegotiated North American free trade agreement, which passed earlier in January.
However, despite the fact that many House Democrats — including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — were essential to passing the deal, they will not be at the bill signing ceremony, because Trump refused to invite them, Politico reported.
So Trump will take a victory lap on the trade agreement — but not alongside Democratic lawmakers who worked on provisions for the bill that helped it soar to passage.
"It's a little petty of him," Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) told Politico. "Actually, there were more Democrats who voted in favor than Republicans in the House side."

Sen. Joni Ernst said the quiet part out loud when she suggested the point of Trump's obsession with 'corruption' was about hurting Joe Biden.
Donald Trump's impeachment defense team, and many of his staunchest allies, have repeatedly argued that he was not really trying to pressure Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden for the purpose of damaging his presidential election chances — it's just that Trump is really concerned about corruption.
But on Monday evening, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) seemed to suggest that in fact the entire point was indeed to turn off Democratic voters.
"Iowa caucuses, folks, Iowa caucuses are this next Monday evening," Ernst said to reporters. "And I'm really interested to see how this discussion today informs and influences the Iowa caucus voters, those Democratic caucus-goers. Will they be supporting Vice President Biden at this point?"
Much of Trump's defense team spent Monday's Senate impeachment trial focusing on the former vice president and his son Hunter Biden, trying to argue that Trump was justified in seeking investigations into the Biden family because of their alleged corrupt and nefarious acts. Despite many insinuations by Trump and his allies, there is no evidence to support Trump's claims about the Bidens.

UK will set out EU trade objectives next month: Brexit secretary

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will set out more details about its objectives for a free trade deal with the European Union next month after the country leaves the bloc on Jan. 31, Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay said.
“We are going to publish our objectives for the negotiation (...) in due course after the 31st,” he told BBC television’s Andrew Marr program on Sunday.
At stake are the terms of trade from 2021, when an 11-month post-Brexit transition period is due to expire. Negotiations between London and Brussels are expected to start in March.
“The key issue is that we will have control of our rules, we will not be a rule taker, we will not diverge for the sake of diverging, we start from a position of alignment,” Barclay said.

4 Missouri River states unite to try to limit flooding

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri are joining forces for a study that will look for ways the states can limit flooding along the Missouri River and give them information about how wetter weather patterns could require changes in the way the U.S. government manages the basins reservoirs.
The states are pooling their money to pay for half of a $400,000 study with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to measure how much water flows down the Missouri River.
The states hope to present a united front to federal officials to gain more influence over how the river is managed after devastating floods in 2011 and 2019.
“We’ve got to look at the data, but it’s certainly possible that we’re going to see more wet years,” Republican Nebraska Gov. Ricketts said at a recent media briefing. “We need to collect the data first, and then we can address with the Corps what they ought to be doing.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. House impeachment manager Adam Schiff said on Sunday he believes Republican President Donald Trump’s comment that he has not yet “paid the price” was intended as a threat.
Trump launched another attack on Democrats including Schiff over the Senate impeachment trial earlier on Sunday, saying on Twitter “he has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!”
Asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if he viewed that as a threat, Schiff said, “I think it was intended to be.”

President Donald Trump kicked off his Sunday morning with an over-the-top Twitter attack at Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), calling him a “sick man” and saying he needs to pay for leading the impeachment charge against him.
In a pairing of tweets, Trump charged, “The Impeachment Hoax is a massive election interference the likes of which has never been seen before. In just two hours the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats have seen their phony case absolutely shredded. Shifty is now exposed for illegally making up my phone call, & more!” before adding, “Shifty Adam Schiff is a CORRUPT POLITICIAN, and probably a very sick man. He has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!”

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez by calling her “dumb as a rock” — and urged his followers to watch the trial on various news outlets, including “Fake News @CNN or Fake News MSDNC!”
