"Meet The Press" is trending on Twitter, as Chuck demonstrates why Nicolle got his weekday time slot

It's "Republican Talking Points." That's why I don't quote content from the show here...I'd be in violation of DU's terms of service.

MSNBC has an odd fixation with including shows that would be more at home on Fox. They add a guy like Hugh Hewitt and conclude that the mountain of hate mail doesn't translate into ratings, so they toss Hugh Hewitt.

I've read a bit about how Todd lobbied aggressively to land Meet The Press. I don't know what kind of pull he has with the network, I DO know they moved him back to a "hear the sound of crickets" time slot Monday-Friday, while keeping him as host of MTP.

And today, Twitter is venting over Chuck being Chuck, for inviting on hardcore Trump talking points specialists, and letting them go on at length without challenging anything they say.

It's Chuck! What else can I say? And MSNBC apparently still believes that any publicity is still publicity.

Pence RNC drinking game...take a shot every time he uses "bold" or "decisive" in reference to Trump

And if he refers to Trump's "vision," you have to down the whole bottle.

11:59 PM and 59 seconds on January 19, 2021

The velocity with which the whole house of cards could come crashing down after that last second of the clock ticks is staggering.

IMAGINE no "Roy Cohn" to shield Trump from the court cases.

IMAGINE the thoughts racing through Trump's mind as he realizes the jig is up.

As SWEET as it might be, the sweetest moment won't be the announcement of a Biden victory, or his being inaugurated as our 46th President.

The SWEETEST moment would be imagining the mind of Trump 11:59 PM and 59 seconds on January 19, 2021.

Trump team comes up empty when pressed for evidence of election fraud in court

TRUMP COMES UP EMPTY WHEN PRESSED FOR EVIDENCE OF ELECTION FRAUD IN COURT

The Trump campaign’s 524-page response to a discovery demand turned up precisely zero instances of mail-in vote fraud.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S campaign, ordered by a federal court judge in Pennsylvania to back up its claims of fraud in the state’s vote-by-mail system, has documented only a handful of cases of election fraud in recent years — none of which involved mail-in ballots. The revelation, which came in the form of a partially redacted 524-page document produced by the Trump campaign last week, undermines the claim by Trump team operatives that mail-in ballot fraud is a grave risk to Pennsylvania voters.

The campaign is suing Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar and each of the state’s county election boards to prevent election administrators from providing secure drop boxes for mail-in ballot returns. These drop boxes allow voters to return their mail-in ballots by hand, without sending them through the postal system and risking delays. The Trump campaign alleges that the practice “provides fraudsters an easy opportunity to engage in ballot harvesting, manipulate or destroy ballots, manufacture duplicitous votes, and sow chaos.”

In a motion last week, Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future and the Sierra Club called on the Trump campaign to provide evidence of the existence of voter fraud, arguing that the campaign’s lawsuit was “replete with salacious allegations and dire warnings” about Pennsylvania’s elections and that they “must either be compelled to provide discovery concerning their fraud-based allegations or be precluded from pursuing these claims going forward.” Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan granted the motion, ordering the campaign to “produce such evidence in their possession, and if they have none, state as much.”

The response provided by the Trump campaign to the opposing counsel, which was shared with The Intercept and Type Investigations, contains a few scant examples of election fraud — but none of the instances in the 524-page discovery document involved mail-in ballots.

It was the calm confidence of Obama's speech that probably rattled Trump the most.

My mind went back to the White House Correspondents Dinner and Trump seething as Obama rattled off Apprentice jokes...

...the way you send Trump over the edge is with cool, calm, measured words...he's always looking for a street fight, he always wants to "respond" and "seek revenge" for something he can turn into a controversy.

My take-away from the DNC across all of the nights is that all involved know who and what Trump is, but it was all presented with a very measured, factual assessment of his failures. Kamala Harris' "I know a predator when I see one" comment rang so true, because that's exactly what Trump is...how can you argue with what's been played out in front of your own eyes and ears?

That's what impressed me the most...the cool, relaxed confidence...from President Obama and others. There's a lot we could be yelling about. We have. And I assume that when Chachi takes the podium at the RNC, he'll be more emotional. Kid Rock will be an assclown, as will the My Pillow Guy, and probably the smirking MAGA Hat guy as well, but no one in their "all star lineup" will hold a candle to what happened this week.

I hope it inspired a sufficient number of people to VOTE. I don't know how much more motivation people need at this point, but obviously, we need to KEEP motivating them right up to election day. This went a long way in that effort.

Biden is ON IT, we need to address the "what if Trump refuses to leave" while not agonizing over it

There was an article yesterday...I didn't post it, someone else may have, but it basically said that the Biden team has "contingency plans on top of contingency plans" for every nightmare scenario surrounding Trump challenging the election and "refusing to leave."

If we're going to trust Biden to lead, I think we have to trust him to be aware of this (he is), to plan for it (he is), and to take whatever action is necessary when the shit hits the fan (he will).

Just don't lose sleep over it, folks. I am NOT suggesting that you turn a blind eye to it...it's real.

But it's also great clickbait and cable news fodder, it's sensationalism.

Trump isn't Superman. Hell, he's not even Lex Luthor.

He's a bigoted, adulterous, self-obsessed former reality TV star, failed casino owner, failed fake "university" dean, failed real estate tycoon, he's intellectually incurious, the jury's out on whether he can actually read (and at what grade level, if he can), he plays golf and tweets book reviews and slams Fox for not consistently and appropriately adoring him.

So ask yourself this...if you're Joe Biden, and you know all of this, how completely are you planning for what Trump has been broadcasting seven days a week?

Be aware, be concerned, just don't allow yourself to slip into high anxiety over what the orange baboon "might" do. And if Joe Biden IS certified as the winner, it will be President Pelosi if Trump tries to go past 10 seconds at midnight, January 19th. Don't assign superhuman / supernatural powers to this baboon. He will try to get away with anything he can, and he'll then hit the wall.

Peace and out.

OH FFS, the "smirking MAGA kid" who taunted the Native American drum circle is an RNC guest of honor

The Democratic Convention is underway with an all-inclusive rainbow of elected leaders, community members, and everyday citizens speaking out about their hope for a better world.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party has announced that their convention, which will feature Donald Trump every night, will also have such guests as the St. Louis couple that incorrectly handled their guns while waving and threatening protesters walking by their St. Louis mansion. The RNC also announced that they’ll also welcome “smirking MAGA kid” photographed standing inches from the face of a Native American protester in a drum circle. The invitations resulted in a flood of claims of other guests that were a joke. Everyone from Stanford rapist Brock Turner to Jeffrey Epstein’s ghost, Hitler’s dog walker and singers of the KKK Khoir.

While jokes spread throughout Twitter, The Daily Beast reported that television networks are nervous about the RNC event. They’ve already cut down what they show because the viewership numbers aren’t enough for them to make any money.
