Manafort seeking plea deal with special counsel that would avoid cooperation ahead of second trial

Manafort seeking plea deal with special counsel that would avoid cooperation ahead of second trial: Sources

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/manafort-seeking-plea-deal-special-counsel-avoid-cooperation/story?id=57777687

Sources familiar with negotiations tell ABC News former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been in ongoing negotiations with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office over a potential plea agreement.

The discussions, which have picked up steam in the last several weeks, come ahead of Manafort’s second trial which is slated to begin later this month in federal court in Washington D.C.

Sources tell ABC News that Mueller’s office is seeking cooperation from Manafort for information related to President Trump and the 2016 campaign, however, Manafort is resisting and his team is pushing prosecutors for a plea agreement that does not include cooperation, at least as related to the president.

A spokesperson for Manafort declined to comment.

@tedlieu

I just introduced the E. Scott Pruitt Accountability for Government Officials Act because it is important to memorialize his legacy of corruption, and that of Trump cabinet officials. It's also a pretty good anti-corruption bill.

Draining the 2020 GOP Presidential candidate swamp: Jamie Dimon thinks he can beat Trump

"I think I could beat Trump ... because I'm as tough as he is, I'm smarter than he is" said Jamie Dimon.

"And by the way, this wealthy New Yorker actually earned his money," Dimon added. "It wasn't a gift from Daddy."

J.P. Morgan Chase Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon made some interesting comments on today's political affairs, even though he's said publicly he won't run for president and is committed to head the bank for the next five years.

"I think I could beat Trump... because I'm as tough as he is, I'm smarter than he is," said Dimon. "I can't beat the liberal side of the Democratic party."

Dimon, 62, has been outspoken about what the U.S. needs to do to improve economic growth for a broader set of participants. He's also pushed for common-sense actions on topics from immigration policy to infrastructure spending. So he's often been asked whether he would run for president. In the past, he has said that while he would like running the country, he could never win an election. But the victory of Donald Trump in 2016 -- another billionaire New York businessman -- raised the possibility that Dimon might change his mind.

Still, while the questions remain, Dimon maintains that he probably couldn't win. In Wednesday's comments, he indicated that its unlikely a rich banker could beat the liberal side of the Democratic party.

On Fox News, @GOPLeader Kevin McCarthy argues Wikipedia edits are evidence Google is censoring conservatives.

"If you were searching the California GOP just 2 weeks before the primary, do you know what it said the ideology of it was? Nazism."

(No pushback from @BillHemmer)
