Trump re-tweets Drudge, "APPROVAL AT 50%!" It actually averages to 41.7% on FiveThirtyEight.com

Aggregate polls here: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

The average is 41.7% approval.

Rasmussen has him at 50% (that's the highest), and if you go to the link, you'll see lows in the mid-30s with an average rating in most polls of low to mid 40s.

I didn't post the tweet here because...you know, Drudge. But if you need to see it, go to Trump's Twitter feed, it's right at the top.

Sylvia Moy, Motown pioneer and Stevie Wonder collaborator, dies at 78
Brian McCollum , Detroit Free Press Pop Music Critic Published 10:05 p.m. ET April 16, 2017 | Updated 7 hours ago

Songwriter and producer Sylvia Moy, who helped spark Stevie Wonder’s career while breaking barriers for women at Motown Records, died Saturday night at Beaumont (Oakwood) Hospital in Dearborn. She was 78.

Moy, a Detroit native, gave Wonder his second Top 10 hit with 1965’s “Uptight (Everything’s Alright).” The song's success won over Motown chief Berry Gordy Jr. and earned Moy a trusted spot on the label's creative team.

Often in tandem with collaborator Hank Cosby, she went on to co-write other key Wonder hits — including “I Was Made to Love Her” (1967) and “My Cherie Amour” (1969) — along with the Isley Brothers’ “This Old Heart of Mine” and the Marvin Gaye-Kim Weston duet “It Takes Two.”

Moy died of apparent complications from pneumonia, following a stay in Detroit's Harper University Hospital, said her sister Anita Moy.

"Just like any other damn president": Trump supporters are angry theyre not "winning"

‘Just like any other damn president’: Trump supporters are angry they’re not ‘winning’

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/04/just-like-any-other-damn-president-trump-supporters-are-angry-theyre-not-winning/

Supporters of President Donald Trump still aren’t winning, despite what their dear leader says on Twitter or to Fox News.

A New York Times profile of Trump supporters in Pennsylvania revealed all of the work Trump has been doing isn’t helping them and they’re starting to lose hope.

“Just like any other damn president,” Theresa Remington said. She works as a home-care worker and both of her children are Marines on active duty. She voted for Trump hoping he’d overhaul the Veterans Administration and the health care system. He hasn’t. Calling it nothing more than “political bluster,” Remington then wondered what would have happened if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was the one in the White House.

“No one wants to be wrong,” Brian Mock said. He works as a tattoo artist in Levittown. “It’s seeing a house on fire and saying, ‘That house isn’t on fire.’ It is very clearly on fire.”

Google Chrome's "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" extension

Huffington Post pissed me off for the last time this morning.

As those of you who frequent the site know, most pages open with an "autoplay" video that often begins with a blast of loud music. Not as much of a problem in the middle of the day if you are at home. Anywhere else, it's a supreme annoyance.

Get the extension here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/disable-html5-autoplay/efdhoaajjjgckpbkoglidkeendpkolai

What happens after you install it is that the video player loads on the page and then stops, displaying the "play" button, rather than autoplaying.

If for some reason you decide that you DO want videos to autoplay on a specific page, simply click the extension button and change the default "Disable Autoplay" to "Disable Nothing."

Russia and China send ships to chase US carrier in waters off Korean peninsula as tensions mount

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/04/russia-and-china-send-ships-after-us-carrier-in-waters-off-korean-peninsula/

Ruussia and China have both dispatched intelligence-gathering vessels to follow the U.S.S. Carl Vinson in waters off of the Korean Peninsula, according to officials in the Japanese government.

TheHill.com reported Sunday night on an Associated Press bulletin that cited a story in the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shinbun saying that both Russian and Chinese navy officials are tracking the movements of U.S. ships in the region.

“It appears that both countries aim to probe the movements of the United States, which is showing a stance of not excluding military action against North Korea,” said the AP.

Japanese Self-Defense Forces are reportedly increasing their maneuvers in the waters and airspace around the area in order to beef up their surveillance and warning capabilities.

Trump attended services at the Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach along with first lady Melania Trump, daughter Tiffany, son Barron and Melania's parents, a White House spokeswoman said.

The family was to celebrate the rest of the Christian holiday with a brunch at Mar-a-Lago and Easter egg hunt with the families of two of Trump's other adult children, Eric and Donald Trump Junior, the spokeswoman told reporters.

Trump wished a "Happy Easter to everyone!" via his favourite medium, Twitter, and had earlier used his weekly address to mark Easter and the Jewish holiday of Passover.

The religious services were the first attended by Trump since his inaugural weekend in January.

R.I.P. guitar legend Allan Holdsworth @ 70.

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/guitar-pioneer-allan-holdsworth-dies/

Progressive rock and jazz fusion guitar pioneer Allan Holdsworth, who Eddie Van Halen called “the best, in my book,” has died of unknown causes at the age of 70.

Holdsworth’s daughter Louise confirmed the news on Facebook, saying “it is with heavy hearts that we notify everyone of the passing of our beloved father. We would appreciate privacy and time while we grieve the loss of our dad, grandad, friend and musical genius. We will update close friends and family when service arrangements have been made and will notify the public of an open memorial service, which all would be welcome. We are undeniably still in shock with his unexpected death and cannot begin to put into words the overwhelming sadness we are experiencing. He is missed tremendously.”

Holdsworth first appeared on a record in 1969 with the group ‘Igginbottom. After ’70s stints in groundbreaking progressive rock and jazz fusion acts such as Soft Machine, the New Tony Williams Lifetime, Pierre Moerlen’s Gong, Bruford and U.K., he released his first official solo album, I.O.U., in 1982. Later in the decade he became an early proponent of a synthesized guitar known as the SynthAxe, and his experimentation with the instrument would define much of his work over the next decade and a half.

“Holdsworth is so damned good that I can’t cop anything. I can’t understand what he’s doing,” Van Halen raved in 2008. “I’ve got to do this (does two-hand tapping), whereas he’ll do it with one hand.”

Looks like the W.H. Easter Egg Roll will neither be yuge nor beautiful.

White House sets out to lower egg-spectations for Trump’s last-minute, celebrity-free Easter Egg Roll

The White House is trying to re-calibrate expectations for this year’s White House Easter Egg Roll after the Obama family’s celebrity-heavy events — which last year featured appearances by Beyoncé, athletes from the NBA and NFL and “Frozen” theme song singer Idina Menzel.

When pressed about who will attend, the size of the crowd expected and whether or not First Lady Melania Trump will be on hand, Grisham said, “We would really like the event to speak for itself.”

Musical guests the Martin Family Circus — a Nashville-based family act — told Politico they only heard from the Trump administration a few weeks ago and are still currently unsure where they will be staying in Washington. They also still don’t know where they will park their family RV or how many sets of music they are expected to play.

“I get the impression that things will continue to change up to the day of,” said Paul Martin, father and leader of the group. “We’ll just be along for the ride.”

"I don't want people to get hurt...What I think should happen and will happen is..."

President Donald Trump is now threatening to wipe out health insurance for millions of people in order to make a political statement. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal Wednesday, Trump suggested that unless Democrats agree to his plans to dismantle Obamacare, he might use his executive authority to intentionally trigger a death spiral for the individual insurance markets.

Specifically, Trump threatened to stop making payments to insurance companies to reimburse them for subsidies that help offset the costs of deductibles and copayments for low-income people. Those subsidies are mandated by Obamacare; if the feds stopped reimbursing insurers for this expense, they would likely abandon the individual markets and leave millions without coverage.

The president seemed to acknowledge in the interview that halting the reimbursements would likely result in the health care markets collapsing, but he said he might go through with it in order to extract concessions from Democrats. "Obamacare is dead next month if it doesn't get that money," Trump told the paper. "I haven't made my viewpoint clear yet. I don't want people to get hurt…What I think should happen and will happen is the Democrats will start calling me and negotiating."

As Trump himself said, ending the program would be a disaster for Obamacare. It would cause insurance companies to flee the individual markets (which, in some parts of the country, already suffer from a lack of insurance options). And the remaining insurance offerings would jump in price. An analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that premiums for a baseline plan would jump 19 percent if cost sharing disappears.
