IrishAyes's JournalFine, thanks for asking.
I got too involved in other matters and not to my improvement either, the reason for my absence. Now I'm about to take off on a short trip with a friend who's almost 80 and can't drive anymore. Her mother lives almost 200 miles away and is not well, though. Thank goodness for her van and a good situation for my dogs or I wouldn't have been able to drive for her.
I can see from the thread list that I've missed a lot. Trying to go through everything briefly at least tonight, as we expect to leave tomorrow morning and I won't be able to hang out on DU for a while.
True, true; but their circumstances were different, and they're different men.
Sweet and beloved as he may be, Bernie's still an old white man, w/o the power of a major party backing him. All the difference in the world, my friend. Also you know Hillary's going to run if she's even breathing at all, and Bernie would have to beat her. Fat chance. He'd only wind up splitting the non-GOP vote and dooming us all.
Hey, buster! I'm almost 68!
But yeah, I agree that we need generational turnover. I'm proud of some things that my generation accomplished, but the job's by no means done. And some of us never were any help, so even though I'll be exiting with them, that's okay. But I refuse to precede them! And I'll always delight in reminding those who follow not to waste time trying to reinvent the wheel, at least not from scratch. That's why I'm so big on history. Can't ever know enough about that.
Anyway, I think we'll be leaving the world in safe enough hands.
That's why I wondered about the validity of the story.
After retiring to BumpInTheRoad, MidWest, I had to give up one of my favorite amusements: chuckling over the headlines on the 'news' tabloids at supermarket checkout counters. Got one woman furious at me when I was almost ROFL; I gasped, "Who in the world is stupid enough to believe that crap?" She chewed me out but good. Since I had to wait on a nearby bench for my friend to finish shopping, I saw that woman take the one I'd been laughing about and buy it. When she walked past the bench, I could swear she tried to run over my toes with that damn cart.

None of the above needs to be taken in any negative way by or about the LGBT community. I'm only poking fun at some of the more outrageously false stories carried in tabloids and the people who believe those stories, not genuine variations in sexual anatomy. Thank you!
Didn't mean to leave out up-and-comers like Wendy Davis either
But you won't win with a female-only ticket, and she's still young enough to have more time left than Hillary, as the Castros do. I don't mean be silly and take turns, but rather play our hand well. Politics is a whole lot like poker.
Welcome to DU. I'm very impressed by your post.
It gives me hope for the future. Keep working on your family.
Sorry to hear about your experiences, Jose. They don't know what they're missing by shutting you
out like that. They don't deserve you.
Wish we could tell him that. The MidWest bump in the road where I retired is one of the oldest towns in the territory. Lewis and Clark came through here. These people have been fighting each other like the Hatfields and McCoys the whole time. Had to close all the churches during the Civil War because people kept shooting in the pews. Thing is, they're all xenophobic as geese and many pride themselves on how mean they can be to outsiders. Gee, wonder why the town keeps shrinking more every year?
Verrrry interesting indeed.
I'm a big fan of preventive care. And it starts at home with good nutrition, the best medicine of all.
Now for more wishes; I'd love to see ACA covering more Oriental medical disciplines.
One twin for governor, the other for VP. I like 'em both. And when a person gets the nod
for the keynote speech at the national convention, you know that's almost an anointing. Brother Bill will be campaigning his heart out as always, so who he likes for Hillary's running mate will definitely factor in.
Sorry to burst your bubble. I love him like a brother, but his state is too small to sweep him all
the way into first chair. If he had Hillary as VP candidate, maybe, because he'd ride HER coattails. And you know what she'd say to that. Besides, you'd also be facing regional prejudice since both are northeast damnYankees. I don't believe it could be done. Regardless how formidable an opponent he is, '16 won't be his year. Breaks my heart, but that's the way it is.
