About Me

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!

Get ready for the sky to start falling - according to wingers, anyway. And that includes all the GOP.

It's a lot more fun to set fire to GOP hair(balls).

Karma will, don't worry

She's my best friend, or at least closest acquaintance; we know every side of one another from long years of association, only I still maintain she's twice as tough as I ever think I am. Sic'ing her on somebody is absolutely the worst thing I can do to them. And to think - she'd kick ass even w/o being asked! Gotta love that about her.

Same to you, buddy

Why should we believe a single word YOU say?

President Obama thinks and speaks in paragraphs

While many if not most of his detractors have trouble handling one sentence at a time.

In general, you're correct.

Just remember the Far Left is no more monolithic than the Democratic Party itself. I take a lot of heat from that side too, and my lefty credentials are often questioned - but I step aside for no one in my regard for President Obama. Kucinich could never BE elected president and Wellstone is dead, bless his soul. Barack Hussein Obama is the man for the hour, and he's second to no one in my book. How childish for people to pitch hissy fits when they can't have everything they want yesterday. No perception, no sense of history... hell, no sense at all.

This will make August bearable for me.

Normally it's all I can do to survive that hottest of months, spending it as I must with my arms wrapped tightly around the A/C. I even have a freestanding backup portable A/C in case the main unit croaks. I would croak w/o it. Don't care if icicles hang from my ears in January, but I can't take the heat and don't enjoy being confined indoors so much during August.

I probably wouldn't handle prison very well.

It's this sort of thing

and times that make me proud to be an American. President Obama has done a lot to restore my faith in the good we can do.

Pew isn't ratings driven like CNN

CNN was once the epitome of excellent new coverage. Now it's just another pile of garbage trading on its former glory.

Hooray for Pew!

Also, apparently...

I answered your post in the context of another thread, hastily... so a little egg on my face, but not too much to wash off promptly.

In general, however, I'm appalled at each and every person who violates the 'safe room' principle of group standards. It's akin to stomping through a Buddhist temple in jackboots.
