Donald Trumps doctor: If something happens to him, then it happens to him

link:https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/12/21/donald-trumps-doctor-if-something-happens-to-him-then-it-happens-to-him/?utm_term=.d2af11abd35a|

onald Trump's campaign and its supporters spent a good portion of the 2016 campaign arguing that Hillary Clinton was secretly very ill and not up to the task of being president.

Trump's doctor, by contrast, isn't too worried about his patient dying in office — at least, not when it comes to the future of the country.

“If something happens to him, then it happens to him,” Harold Bornstein says. “It’s like all the rest of us, no? That’s why we have a vice president and a speaker of the House and a whole line of people. They can just keep dying.”

That amazing quote comes courtesy of a new interview Bornstein did with STAT. And it's part of a veritable murderer's row of curmudgeonly quotes from and anecdotes about the .?.?. well .?.?. interesting physician.

A few other quotes from the interview:

About the lack of disclosure about Trump's health and his being the oldest president: “There's nothing to share” on a regular basis. And: “Ronald Reagan had pre-senile dementia. I mean, seriously, did they share that one with you, or did Nancy just cover it up?”
Before agreeing to the interview, Bornstein pleaded for the reporter to leave him alone. “Please stop this nonsense!!!” he said in an email.
On having second thoughts about the interview being published afterward: “I happen to have known the Sulzbergers [the family that owns the New York Times] for 50 years. I’m going to make sure you don’t ever work again if you do this.”
Trump isn't “an old man the way my grandfather was an old man.” But Hillary Clinton: “She’s an old lady. She’s an old lady. It’s funny, isn’t it?”
On his son volunteering to work for Trump's campaign: “What a great experience, for an 18-year-old to go to Trump Tower in a presidential year, with this character, of all people.”

The minor girl victimized by Weiner sends letter to Comey about how his letter victimized her again.

Here’s An Open Letter To Comey From The Teen Who Allegedly Got Sexts From Weiner
“I thought your job as FBI Director was to protect me.”

On Wednesday, BuzzFeed News published an interview with the teenage girl who allegedly got indecent messages from Anthony Weiner.
Her story has received renewed attention since FBI Director James Comey announced on Friday that an investigation was continuing into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, following the discovery of new emails. As the New York Times first reported, the emails were discovered on the private computer of Weiner, 52, and his wife, Huma Abedin, a top Clinton aide, by investigators probing messages the disgraced former congressman allegedly sent to the underage 15-year-old girl, now 16.
The teen told BuzzFeed News she was upset with Comey for giving no warning her case was set to be thrust into the national spotlight and tainted with electoral politics.
The FBI declined to comment on the case. BuzzFeed News independently confirmed the teen’s identity, in part, via an email provided by Weiner, by traveling to her hometown, and by speaking with her and her father.
The teen wrote this open letter, printed in full below, to James Comey and provided it to BuzzFeed News.

Mr. James Comey
FBI Director
November 2, 2016
I am the 15-year-old (now 16) who was the victim of Anthony Weiner. I now add you to the list of people who have victimized me. I told my story originally to protect other young girls that might be a victim of online predators.
Your letter to Congress has now brought this whole matter back into the media spotlight. Not even 10 minutes after being forensically interviewed with the FBI for seven hours, I received a phone call from a REPORTER asking for a statement. Why didn’t you communicate with the local FBI agents that I had just spoken to? They could have scheduled our interview sooner or scheduled a time to interview me later, or change locations of the interview. My neighborhood has been canvassed by reporters asking for details about me.
In your letter, you chose to use a vague approach, meaning the media had to keep searching to try and find out what evidence you had uncovered and how. Every media outlet from local to national has contacted me and my family to get my “story.” Why couldn’t your letter have waited until after the election, so I would not have to be the center of attention the last week of the election cycle?

In private, Burr quips about gun owners shooting Clinton

Source: CNN

(CNN)Sen. Richard Burr privately mused over the weekend that gun owners may want to put a "bullseye" on Hillary Clinton, according to audio obtained by CNN.

The North Carolina Republican, locked in a tight race for reelection, quipped that as he walked into a gun shop "nothing made me feel better" than seeing a magazine about rifles "with a picture of Hillary Clinton on the front of it."
"I was a little bit shocked at that -- it didn't have a bullseye on it," he said Saturday to GOP volunteers, prompting laughter from the crowd in Mooresville, North Carolina. "But on the bottom right (of the magazine), it had everybody for federal office in this particular state that they should vote for. So let me assure you, there's an army of support out there right now for our candidates."
The comments resemble similar ones made by Donald Trump in August when the GOP nominee said "Second Amendment people" could take matters into their own hands if Clinton became president.

Buffet responds - Never carry forward

Warren Buffett fires back at Donald Trump's comments about his taxes

Warren Buffett responded Monday to Donald Trump's attacks on his tax payments, offering income tax information and criticizing the Republican presidential nominee for not releasing his own tax records.

In Sunday night's presidential debate in St. Louis, Trump claimed that Buffett took a "massive deduction" while defending his claimed $916 million loss in 1995 that allowed him to avoid federal income tax in at least some years. Buffett, a supporter of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, said Monday that Trump "has not seen my income tax returns."

"I have paid federal income tax every year since 1944, when I was 13. (Though, being a slow starter, I owed only $7 in tax that year.) I have copies of all 72 of my returns and none uses a carryforward," Buffett said in a statement.

Trump has gone against recent presidential nominee precedent in not releasing tax returns, claiming he cannot because he is under audit. His election rival Clinton and other critics have contended he refuses to do so because the returns would expose use of tax loopholes, potential conflicts of interest in his business dealings or fewer charitable contributions than he publicly claims.

Trump's 1995 return was given to The New York Times and the newspaper first reported on it.

Suffolk University Poll Shows Clinton Leading Trump by 9 Points in Pennsylvania

Just hours before Democrat Hillary Clinton is set to make history in Philadelphia as the first woman to accept her party’s U.S. presidential nomination, a new Suffolk University poll of likely general-election voters in Pennsylvania shows Clinton with a commanding lead over Republican Donald Trump. In a two-way matchup, she led Trump 50 percent to 41 percent, with 8 percent undecided.
Pennsylvania has voted Democratic in the past six presidential elections, going back to Bill Clinton’s first win in 1992. Yet it is a rust belt state that could be in play, as indicated by recent general-election polling showing a close race.
In a four-way scenario, with Green Party nominee Jill Stein and Libertarian Gary Johnson added into the mix, Clinton led Trump 46 percent to 37 percent, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 5 percent, Green Party nominee Jill Stein receiving 3 percent, and 9 percent undecided.
“Hillary Clinton is flirting with fifty thanks to Philly,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Research Center in Boston. “At this point Clinton’s large lead in the Philadelphia area is offsetting losses to Trump in other parts of the state. She also is amassing the support of women and thus drowning out Trump’s marginal lead among men.”
In the four-way ballot test, Clinton led by 19 points among women (50 percent to 31 percent) and trailed Trump by 3 points among men (44 percent to 41 percent).
