You are absolutely correct re

securing embassies and consulates today and in the future.

And, I believe the Republicans are having some success in sullying Sec. Clinton's record and reputation, inasmuch as she is not in the public eye at this time, i.e., that vacuum is being filled with the Fox/GOP meme, which is being taken up in the national media, now that more hearings re Benghazi will be held shortly.

One thought re Benghazi not seen elsewhere-

is my thought that Ambassador Stevens took undue risk going to Benghazi, inasmuch as insufficient security was not posted there.

Out of respect for Ambassador Stevens, who thus died in service to his country, this thought has not been advanced by the administration and the press.

Just as soldiers at times make mistakes and pay with their lives, State Dept. representatives also commit errors. In this case the Ambassador was so comfortable with his knowledge of the local culture and language he seemingly thought he could handle any circumstance. Unfortunately, he was wrong.

I have not done well in locating the locations, etc. of my Irish

The surname is the the second most common in Ireland, and the first name is Patrick(!) - sort of like trying to find the precise Joe Jones in the U.S.
And we all know the families were prolific, using the first names over and over among the lateral generations.

Congratulations on finding family "across the pond."

As long as Florida is "restoring"

they should consider restoring voting privileges to felons who have served their time.

You did not deserve the responses given

to your sharing of a interesting anecdote re your neighbor.
Sometimes I don't understand what people are thinking when hurtful remarks are made.

Glad you will stay.

We need people with your sensibilities.

There is more than one definition

of charity.
I use the word in another context than the one to which you refer.
I believe some of the other comment responders understood that.

The funeral director is performing an act

of charity by treating the remains of this reviled man in a respectful manner.

He is performing the duties of his profession, just as the doctors at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston attended to this brother.
I salute him.

I also located sources from Sept. 2010

relating to Benedict XVI.
Wonder what made it relevant today?

Many are not interested at this time

Perhaps they're too young and too busy with on-going life to give family history any thought.
Certainly I didn't have enough time or insight at a younger age to ask the questions I now wish I had asked.

But I have the hope that an interest may develop at a later age, or that a grandchild or niece or nephew will at some point want this information.
