EPA head met with a mining CEO -- and then pushed forward a controversial mining project

Source: CNN

(CNN)Within hours of meeting with a mining company CEO, the new head of the US Environmental Protection Agency directed his staff to withdraw a plan to protect the watershed of Bristol Bay, Alaska, one of the most valuable wild salmon fisheries on Earth, according to interviews and government emails obtained by CNN.

The meeting between EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and Tom Collier, CEO of Pebble Limited Partnership, took place on May 1, Collier and his staff confirmed in an interview with CNN. At 10:36 a.m. that same day, the EPA's acting general counsel, Kevin Minoli, sent an email to agency staff saying the administrator had "directed" the agency to withdraw an Obama-era proposal to protect the ecologically valuable wetland in southwest Alaska from certain mining activities.

In 2014, after three years of peer-reviewed study, the Obama administration's EPA invoked a rarely used provision of the Clean Water Act to try to protect Bristol Bay after finding that a mine "would result in complete loss of fish habitat due to elimination, dewatering, and fragmentation of streams, wetlands, and other aquatic resources" in some areas of the bay.

"All of these losses would be irreversible," the agency said.

Trump: North korea will be met with fire and fury President Trump: North Korea will be met with 'fire and fury'

41 Mins Ago | 00:27

President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned North Korea about facing "fire and fury" if the isolated nation makes more threats to the United States.

"They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. He has been very threatening ... and I said they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before," Trump told reporters during what he calls a "working vacation" at his New Jersey golf club.

His comments came hours after revelations Pyongyang has successfully created a miniaturized nuclear weapon designed to fit inside its missiles.

The development raises the stakes for Trump and other world leaders, who already faced difficult and limited options in dealing with North Korea's aggression.

Trump jumps the gun on jobs report tweet -- again (violating a federal rule)

Source: CNN

President Donald Trump was so excited by the good news in Friday's jobs report that he jumped the gun to tweet about it, violating a federal rule that requires an hour between when a report is released, and when federal officials can comment on the numbers.

The 209,000 jobs added by employers in July and the drop in unemployment to 4.3% was just too much for the tweeter-in-chief to resist bragging about on Twitter.

"Excellent Jobs Numbers just released - and I have only just begun. Many job stifling regulations continue to fall. Movement back to USA!" he tweeted at 8:45 a.m., 15 minutes after the report.

Body camera video allegedly shows Baltimore cop planting evidence

Source: CNN

New video casts a glaring light on Baltimore police practices as the department and city grapple with a distrustful public and record-setting violent crime.

The video reportedly shows what happened during what might otherwise have been a typical drug bust on January 24. Released by the Office of the Public Defender, the video purports to show a Baltimore police officer planting evidence at the scene of a drug arrest.
The Baltimore Police Department has launched an investigation and held a news conference releasing other videos while offering a timeline of events.

Snip-

The video, recorded on police body-worn cameras, shows the officer placing a plastic bag into a food can, then partially hiding it under a piece of debris. Thirty seconds later the audio begins, and the officer says, "I'm going to check here. Hold on," as his colleagues laugh. The officer then gives a cursory look at other items in the debris-strewn lot and appears to stumble onto the drugs in the can.
"Yo!" the officer shouts at his colleagues as he holds up the small cellophane bag containing several pills. One of his colleagues shouts back, "What's up?" The video ends a few seconds later.

The real reason drug laws exist.... planting evidence.... almost impossible without a major investigation to prove when it happens....

so pitiful, watching this parade of disgusting weasel people whine about their bullshit...

Their lying attempts to keep trying to look noble while they fleece their cult members, is just gross and weird and I think I need to turn my tv off before I barf through my nose...

that's all

Brothel once owned by Trump family to become tourist attraction

Full article here: link:http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/brothel-owned-trump-family-turned-tourist-attr-article-1.3271182|

You will soon be able to visit a Canadian brothel that once belonged to President Trump's great-grandfather and is credited with starting his family's empire.

.........

I am pretty sure they specialized in water sports

I have a, not so good, feeling about this one...

angry people get the even angrier when their own tools of hate are used against them. This will be seen as an attack on the right by the left - nothing can be helped there.

a good example.... if you can imagine a scene where there is a standoff of heavily armed police and a group throwing stones and hurling insults... and suddenly someone starts shooting from the crowd of stone throwers...

what happened today might be seen as first shots fired, at least by the uberhaters and the heavily armed.

i personally will be careful to not fight hate with hate... avoiding the haters might be a good move at this time.
