So today I turned 70.

Along with documentary film maker Ken Burns and founding member of Rush,Geddy Lee.

I went this morning to the coffee shop in my former neighborhood to visit with some old friends. I am absolutely loving being 70. I am fortunate to be in very good health. The last time I spent a night in a hospital was when I was five years old to have my tonsils removed. I've lived a good life so far and have no reason to not expect that to continue.

I posted here yesterday about how uncertain things were when I was of draft age and the Vietnam war was going on. I lived my 20s like I wouldn't make it to 30, and every decade thereafter the same way. I will now live like I won't make it to 80. The beauty of this way of living is that eventually I will be right, and I will be prepared to embrace that, too. The downside is I probably could have prepared financially for my retirement much better. Fortunately in my late 30s I met my now wife who did do that. We are not rich, but comfortable.

Looks like we got our mobile home sold.

It's been on the market since February. At first, like any other new listing, it generated a flurry of interest. Plenty of people seemed to like it, nobody complained about the price. The main problem was the qualifications of the senior park it sits in. It seems people don't understand that 55 and older doesn't mean you are 55 and have three kids living with you. Limit of two dogs/house cats that have to weigh under 30 lbs. That means no, you can't move in with your pit bull.

These are all things beyond my control. Then about a month ago the park decides that new tenants will pay 30% more space rent than I am. Again, out of my control. It had been about four months with no one at all responding to the listing. We were going to adjust the only thing in my control, the price. We were going to drop it 10% on August 1st. Then, in one day, we get two prospects. They both looked at it today and the first guy offered full price in cash. The other guy would also pay full price, but he has to sell his first.

So we just signed papers accepting the first guy's offer. Not a done deal yet, he's sending his inspector on Friday. Keeping our fingers crossed and we should close in 30 days. Wish us luck. I hope our new place is ready by then. Only bad thing is it will probably be over 100 degrees on the day we move. Looking forward to it anyway.

Great stunt driving scene from 1978.

Ryan O'Neal in The Driver. A get-away driver for hire auditions for some bad guys.

I wonder what it would be like if

all the news writers and newscasters on TV would go on strike. A long strike.

I'm tired of hearing that America is a free country.

Actually I find it to be rather expensive.

Supreme Court Justices seem to be rather affordable for some, though.

Was anyone here watching the game last Saturday

where the Angels beat the Rockies 25-1?

What the hell happened?

Ohtani hit one single in seven at-bats. Even more bizarro.

Another milestone on the calendar to make me feel a little older.

Saturday would have been my dad's 100th birthday. He passed away in 1990 at the age of 66, but I still think about him. It just feels strange that the generation before me is now going to be 100 years old. It was just three years ago that I reached the date where I have lived longer than he did.

Journalists have no sense of humor.

Regarding the Hunter Biden Plea agreement, Kevin McCarthy ranted about the two-tiered system of justice in this country and no journalist broke out in hysterical laughter.

I don't know how many Giants fans there are here,

but they are on fire right now. It's early in the season, I hope they can keep it up.

Is anyone annoyed as much as me with the

black and red set graphics on MSNBC? I mean what the hell were they thinking?
