Shortly after the wrongful arrest of Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan, another Wisconsin judge is coming under fire for standing up for justice.

Sawyer County Circuit Court Judge Monica Isham had reportedly sent out an email referring to Dugan and saying that she would not let anyone be dragged out of her court by ICE agents without due process:

In the email, Isham reportedly noted she had sworn an oath of support to the U.S. and the Wisconsin constitutions. She also reportedly added that Judge Dugan was standing by her oath of office when she confronted ICE officers who came to her courtroom in Milwaukee and escorted the defendant they’d come to arrest out a side door.

“Yesterday, Judge Hannah Dugan of Milwaukee County stood on her Oath in the very building she swore to uphold it and she was arrested and charged with felonies for it. Enough is enough,” the email message said.

“I have no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE and sent to a concentration camp, especially without due process as BOTH of the constitutions we swore to support requires. Should I start raising ball money?”

Adding more tension to the situation, Isham is a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and is the first woman and first Native American judge in Sawyer County and only the second Native American judge in the entire state...............

At least 26 dead in Pakistan in overnight India attacks, military says

At least 46 others were injured, a Pakistani military official said.

By Kevin Shalvey, Victoria Beaule, and Prashun Mazumdar May 7, 2025, 4:06 AM

LONDON and DELHI -- Twenty-six people were killed and dozens more were injured overnight in Pakistan by Indian aerial attacks, Pakistani officials said.

The Pakistani military said the airstrike amounted to a "blatant act of aggression," a characterization disputed by an Indian official, who said it was a "measured, non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible."

The strike, which followed Tuesday's missile assault, came amid rising tension as India continued to blame Pakistan for a deadly attack in April in the disputed Kashmir region, a claim that Pakistan denies. That militant attack, known as the Pahalgam incident, left 26 people dead in Indian-held Kashmir..................

The attack "constitutes a clear violation of Pakistan's sovereignty," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding, "The Indian side was warned that such reckless behavior poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability."......................

Sat next to Fifa president Gianni Infantino, Trump was unaware that Russia were banned from the tournament.

Trump said Infantino is "the boss" when it comes to a decision over Russia's participation and that he had "nothing to do" with any call to reinstate them.

Salt Lake City approves 3 new flags to get around Utah's ban on Pride flags

Source: nbc

The city’s three new flags mix the existing Salt Lake City flag design with elements of flags celebrating various communities that were barred from being flown at public buildings.

Updated May 6, 2025, 11:10 PM CDT Adam Edelman

Salt Lake City adopted three new city flags Tuesday, an effort to circumvent a new Utah law that effectively banned flying LGBTQ Pride and other flags at public buildings in the state.

Mayor Erin Mendenhall, a Democrat, presented the proposal to the City Council, which adopted it at its meeting Tuesday night. It incorporates the city's flag into designs celebrating Juneteenth, LGBTQ rights and trans rights.

In March, Utah became the first state to make it illegal to fly such flags at all public schools and universities and government buildings, triggering outrage among Democratic officials and civil rights groups in the state. That law prohibits unsanctioned flag displays and was widely interpreted to ban flags celebrating various communities in Salt Lake City, a blue spot in socially and politically conservative Utah.

One of the proposed flags, dubbed the Sego Belonging Flag, is intended to honor the city’s LGBTQ residents, while another, which officials called the Sego Visibility Flag, is intended to recognize the city’s trans community. The third proposed flag, dubbed the Sego Celebration Flag, is intended to honor the city’s Black residents, as well as the history surrounding the Juneteenth holiday..............

Preliminary injunction seeks to reverse actions by Department’s Office for Civil Rights that have abandoned thousands of claims and investigations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A group of students and parents, represented by the National Center for Youth Law (NCYL), the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc. (COPAA), filed a motion for preliminary injunction Friday in their lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education seeking to block the Department’s unlawful rollback of civil rights protections for students experiencing discrimination in schools.

The motion, filed in federal district court in Washington, D.C., asks the court to immediately halt the Department’s recent policy decision to abandon thousands of investigations within its Office for Civil Rights (OCR). It follows the filing of the plaintiffs’ amended lawsuit on April 10 and is supported by several sworn declarations from parents and current and former OCR staff that detail the perilous, ongoing harm many plaintiff children and thousands of students across the country continue to face as a result of the discrimination they experience in schools.

“It’s critical that the court intervenes now — both to bring justice to thousands of families who’ve been left with no answers, and to prevent further harm to countless more students across the country,” said David Hinojosa, Co-Director of Litigation at NCYL. “No student should be made to feel they don’t matter.”

“This administration’s continued attempts to destroy the U.S. Department of Education is an attack on every child in our public schools. A key role of the Department of Education is to ensure civil rights protections for all students including children of color and students with disabilities, and oftentimes, especially in southern states, the office for civil rights is the only way students and families can ensure access to their educational rights. We need the courts to intervene immediately to protect our nation’s most vulnerable students,” said Derwyn Bunton, Chief Legal Officer at SPLC. “SPLC is proud to stand by our partners to fight these actions with every tool that we have—alongside educators, students, and communities who understand that education is a fundamental right, not a privilege.”

“An OCR that is solely focused on the distortion of diversity,..................
