It wasn't really me it was DeepFake technology

Watching this MSNBC segment on deepfake technology, which is technology that creates fake videos of people....I wonder if people are going to start using this excuse when they are caught on camera doing or saying bad things

So after this relief bill passes essentially nothing else gets done for two years

Whatever bills the House passes the Senate will filibuster.... I guess it’s only function for the next two years is getting Biden judges put on the bench, which is a huge thing and something we need, but other than that, nothing is going to happen regarding legislation.....oh, and constant government shutdown talk with last minute deals

Just turned it to CSPAN 2

This is freaking stupid, if Ron Johnson wanted this read then he should have to be there as it is read.

A thing that really irks me about the filibuster and other senate rules

Is that senators don’t even have to remain in the chamber and be there for these ‘debates’....we should get rid of the filibuster, but if it is kept then senators who are doing it need to remain and actually talk....same thing with Ron Johnson and his forcing of the relief bill to be read, he should have to stay for the whole 10 hours....there is no consequences for opposing stuff in the senate which allows people to oppose at will....maybe they would think twice if their presence was required

Great Huffington Post article on 'cancel' culture

I particularly like this part

“Cancel culture” serves mostly to gesture away from what actually happened in a given scenario — usually a normal, benign or unexceptional event that did not break in favor of conservative interests — and toward a generalized sense of right-wing grievance.

The dumb Dr Seuss 'controversy'

A private company on their own decided to stop publishing some Dr. Seuss books because they deemed them offensive...not Democrats, not the mythical woke mob...it was the private company on their own....these books aren’t even the most popular and famous Dr. Seuss books.....but right on cue Republicans and their propaganda machine go into faux outrage mode about ‘cancel’ culture....now it’s out in peoples’ minds that Democrats are against Dr. Seuss and that cancel culture is out of control....I even saw that McCarthy used this to disparage the voting rights bill....stupid shit like this is why America is doomed, this is why we get Trump, and Boebert, or Taylor-Green, or why people bought the big lie of election fraud....the media doesn’t push back on lies like this and in some cases (FoxNews) pushes it...so what happens is that people start getting and sharing messages and memes in their echo chambers and bubbles....next thing you know 50% of the country believes that Biden banned “The Cat in the Hat” from elementary libraries

2009-2010 all over again

The Democratic House passes great bills that would help the American people. They either get watered down or get killed by moderate Democrats in the Senate. The American people don’t see results and blame the party in charge. The Republican propaganda machine kicks in...Democrats suffer mass losses in the House due to no fault if their own, but due to their senate colleagues....moderate Dems and the MSM claim that the reason for their losses was liberal overreach and policies when in reality it was due to not getting anything done due to the senate
