Warm wishes for good health, happiness and financial security to all DUers.

I wish a healthy, happy and financially secure holiday season and new year, to all my compatriots at DU.
I'm grateful DU is here, it is one of my first stops for accurate information on any given political topic of the day. I am impressed and bolstered seeing so many compassionate people with societal and political ideas similar to mine, it gives me hope that we can make progress in the left direction!

Warm wishes to all,

I recntly posted a graphic on FaceBook of a quote by Michele Bachmann from Fox news Aug 1st 2013.

The quote attributed to her said;

"If every American owned a gun, we could shut down every police dept in America and save the US taxpayers $1.23 trillion a year in needless law enforcement. It's like we wouldn't need police."
Michele Bachmann Fox News, Aug, 1 2013

One of my friends challenged the veracity of this quote, I have searched youtube, fox news, google etc, and I cannot find anything showing her making this statement.

Does anyone here at DU know where I can find a vid clip of batshit crazy Michele Bachmann making this statement?
I would appreciate a little help here, thanks in advance!

Angry Grandpa, this guy mimics my feelings about the murderer, Zimmerman.

Today I received a call from the NRA, they wanted me to take a poll.

I told the caller; that the NRA and Wayne LaPierre could go to hell, that Wayne LaPierre was a dirty scumbag using the NRA as a shill for the gun industry and they all should be ashamed of themselves. I ended the conversation by telling the caller to F**k off, how's that for polling information!

I can't tell you how great it felt to tell those asshats exactly what I thought of them!

Australia's minimum wage for 2012 was $15.96/hour, this didn't destroy their economy!

I received a telemarketing call at work today, from the NRA!

I couldn't believe my ears when I took a call this morning from a telemarketer from the NRA. I told them to go to hell!

More ex LAPD officers speak up about the corruption, racism, and abuse of power rampant within LAPD

A report by Salon.com
Ex LAPD officer Joe Jones and Brian Brantley tell their stories of the corruption, racism and abuse of power which is rampant within the LAPD.

For those who want to ignore the corruption of the LAPD, because of Dorner's actions, here are some fresh stories which backup most everything Dorner said, from nonviolent former LAPD officers.

Read it!

Quote from Fredrick Douglass, A clear understanding of the corupt bond of capitalism and religion

"I love the pure, peaceable, and impartial Christianity of Christ: I therefore hate the corrupt, slaveholding, women whipping, cradle-plundering, partial and hypocritical Christianity of the land. Indeed I can see no reason, but the most deceitful one, for calling the religion of this land Christianity. I look upon it as the climax of all misnomers, the boldest of all frauds, and the grossest of all libels. Never was there a clearer case of 'stealing the livery of the court of heaven to serve the devil in.' I am filled with unutterable loathing when I contemplate the religious pomp and show, together with the horrible inconsistencies, which everywhere surround me. We have men-stealers for ministers, women-whippers for missionaries, and cradle-plunderers for church members. The man who wields the blood-clotted cowskin during the week fills the pulpit on Sunday, and claims to be a minister of the meek and lowly Jesus....The slave auctioneer's bell and the church-going bell chime in with each other, and the bitter cries of the heartbroken slave are drowned in the religious shouts of his pious master. Revivals of religion and revivals in the slave trade go hand in hand together. The slave prison and the church stand near each other. The clanking of fetters and the rattling of chains in the prison, and the pious psalm and solemn prayer in the church, may be heard at the same time. The dealers in the bodies and souls of men erect their stand in the presence of the pulpit, and they mutually help each other. The dealer gives his blood stained gold to support the pulpit, and the pulpit, in return, covers his infernal business in the garb of Christianity. Here we have religion and robbery the allies of each other-devils dressed in angels robes, and hell presenting the semblance of paradise."

Fredrick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass.

This profound quote explains the same behavior of the bond of greed and religion we still see today, the essence of which is our most serious problem in society.

Keith Ratliff = modern day Dr. Frankenstein!

Keith Ratliff was murdered by the very monster he helped create, the proliferation of weapons of mass death!

Some have questioned my empathy for the man who was murdered by a gun shot, that very person (Keith Ratliff) was a big part of the reason we have more than 11,000 gun deaths every year in America. It's not that I don't have any empathy for a person murdered, rather I have much more empathy for all of the innocent people who were murdered in part because of the actions of Keith Ratliff.

Proliferation of assault weapons leaves our police out-gunned!

Philly police outgunned July 2010;

Time magazine Oct. 2007 "A surge in cop killings";

Beaver County Aug 2008;

Oakland April 2009;

Miami Sept 2007;

New Orleans Aug 2012;

Birmingham Dec 2012;

Arkansas May 2010;

There are many many more instances in which police officers are killed or injured by criminals with assault weapons
